Senior Exit Interviews
Over the next couple of weeks, you will each be meeting with your counselor individually to discuss your graduation progress and future plans. If your parents would like to be a part of this meeting, please have them contact Guidance to set up an appointment.
College Application Process
Choose Colleges-your choices of where to apply should be narrowed down to 3-5. If possible, visit some of your college choices.
Become familiar with application deadlines for each of these schools.
For many schools the priority deadline for applications is November 1st
If you have not taken the SAT or ACT, you should take it before November in order to get the scores to schools in time
For Students Applying to College
You MUST go to parchment.com and set up an account in order for you to get any transcript sent to colleges you are applying to.
To apply to a college, you visit their website and fill it out there.
A transcript is required with all college applications via parchment.com
Additionally, some college applications require an essay
Some schools will waive the application fee for students on free/reduced lunch. See your counselor if you qualify.
Letters of Recommendation
Many colleges and/or scholarships will ask for letters of recommendation.
You should ask 3 Teachers/Coaches/or Supervisors to prepare these for you. Do not wait until the last minute!
You will receive blank forms from your counselor at your senior meeting. Please fill them out and return to guidance so your counselor can represent you and your accomplishments best on college and scholarship applications.
College Visits
You are allowed 2 college visits during your Senior year
We encourage you to try and take advantage of this to see the schools you are interested in
To arrange a college visit go to their website and sign up there, or call their Admissions Office
The form to fill out for a college visit is held in the Guidance Office
College Representatives at FHS
Many college admissions representatives will visit FHS this fall
Take advantage of the time they are here to ask them questions!
Watch the announcements, the Hot Dog Chatter, or stop by guidance to find out what colleges will be visiting on what dates.
You MUST sign up in guidance at least 1 day in advance to receive a pass to meet with the college representative
SAT & ACT
Colleges will accept SAT or ACT scores. You can take both tests or just one
SAT is offered in November and May here at FHS, and at other surrounding schools running about every month.
ACT is offered in October here at FHS, and at other surrounding schools running about every other month.
SAT & ACT
To register for the October 11th SAT in Lebanon you MUST visit www.sat.collegeboard.org and register by SEPTEMBER 12TH. FHS offers the SAT on November 8nd. You must register
by October 9rd.
To register for the October 25th ACT at FHS you MUST visit www.actstudent.org and register by SEPTEMBER 19th
Lebanon offers the ACT on September 13st. You can still register (for a late fee) until August 22nd (FRIDAY!!)

NCAA
If you think you may want to participate in collegiate athletics at a Division I or Division II school, you must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.eligibilitycenter.org
Let your guidance counselor know if you are planning to do this, there are course requirements you must meet in High School to be eligible
Scholarships
Scholarships become available in August and run through April
You must check the Guidance webpage on a weekly basis to check for updates and new scholarships. Scholarships that require a paper application are available in Guidance.
Many scholarships require some sort of essay or a resume
Resume and Essay
If you did not write an essay over the summer you should be writing a rough draft of an essay for any college application and/or scholarships now!
All students should have a resume drafted whether you are preparing for the workforce or going off to college

Graduation Reminder
Graduation is something you EARN. Not a guarantee.
Your counselor will go over your graduation progress with you at your individual senior meeting.
Try not to let Senioritis kick in!
