    Book of the Week

Creating Your High School Resume: A Step-by Step Guide toPreparing an Effective Resume for College and Career

    by Kathryn Kraemer Troutman

This is one of my favorite books for resume writing. It is an excellent book for those of us who have never donea resume and dont understand why its important to have one. It talks about what a resume is and the differenttypes. This book gets you thinking about all of your accomplishments and where they fit in your resume. Iwould not only recommend it to high school students, whether or not they are going to college, but this book isalso helpful for those that do not have a resume; and dont know where to begin.

WorkKeys for Job SeekersThe Career Readiness Credential (CRC) enables you to show prospective employers that you possess the basicfoundational skills they are looking for and have the trainability for success in an organization. The CRC verifiesthat you can handle the kinds of tasks finding information, reading instructions and directions, even workingwith figures that are common in todays workplace.

How does the Career Readiness Credential work?Building on a Proven Program

The CRC is based on established WorkKeys assessments, a nationally recognized system. To earn a CRC,individuals undergo testing related to reading, applied math, and locating information through the WorkKeysskills assessment system. The credential confirms a persons competence in these skill areas and provides

documentation to an employer in todays workforce. How To Earn a CRC

Finger Lakes Workforce customers can obtain a Career Readiness Credential by taking the three WorkKeysassessments. Contact a Finger Lakes Workforce One Stop Center Representative or call 315-539-1905 for moreinformation.
