According to Hindu Mythology, in Vaishnavism, Hiranyakashipu was a king of demons believed to be
Perpetual as Brahma blessed his demand that he will not die "during day or night; inside the home or
Outside, not on earth or in the sky; neither by a man nor an animal; neither by astra nor by shastra" for
His long penance. The king became arrogant wanted everyone to worship him. When Prahlada, his own
son, started worshipping Lord Vishnu, the king did everything to kill his own son. But failed every time!
Eventually, he made him sit on pyre in the lap of Holika demon sister, who also could not die because
she had a boon preventing her from being burned by fire. Everyone was dumbstruck to see the opposite as Prahlada came alive from that pyre whereas the Holika was burnt. It is believed that reverence of Lord Vishnu by Prahlada won against the devil and demon. Since then, the Holi is celebrated as festival against all evils by burning woods and praying to god to kill
Devil in our self.
