Today all production units are looking towardsmore production by utilising their existingassets and man power. This can happen when one can effectivelyutilize his present existence with modernfacilities. Which can be easily achieved byimplementing automation process in the

    Industry.

WHAT IS A PLC ?? A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC for

short) is simply a special computer device

used for industrial control systems. They are used in many industries such as

oil refineries, manufacturing lines, conveyor systems and so on.

Where ever there is a need to controldevices, the PLC provides a flexible way to"softwire" the components together.

WHY PLC ?? PLCs were invented as replacements for automated

systems that would use hundreds or thousands ofrelays, timers, and drum sequencers.

Often, a single PLC can be programmed to replacethousands of relays.

Programmable controllers were initially adopted by

the automotive manufacturing industry, wheresoftware revision replaced the re-wiring of hard-wiredcontrol panels when production models changed.

    BENEFITS OF A PLC?

PLCs are extremely reliable. Persons understand PLC programming for

    Displays / set points easily.

Vibration levels displayed clearly in Controlroom. Operators able to compare to other operating

parameters like voltage, current, freuency etc. Operators able to make intelligent machine

decisions by using plc. Installed Cost is same as any other transmitter

currently in service (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc)

REQUIREMENT OF PLC OPERATION PC ( Personal Computer )

PLCs software to write the programme in

    a progrmming language.

A physical PLC Unit (With a demo kit) to

test the output of the programme written

    on above language.

Or a Simulator software to test the outputof the programme without the presence of

    a physical PLC Unit.
