-C’est un texte narratif car le narrateur utilise les temps du récit (l’imparfait et le
passé simple) et raconte des faits de sa vie d’enfance.

permettent en France les lois du goût. Il rajusta son col et son gilet de velours noir sur
lequel se croisait plusieurs fois une de ces grosses chaînes d'or fabriquées à Gênes ;
puis, après avoir jeté par un seul mouvement sur son épaule gauche son manteau
doublé de velours en le drapant avec élégance, il reprit sa promenade sans se laisser
distraire par les œillades bourgeoises qu'il recevait.

Monsieur Ali est un homme maigre, solide comme sa barque, lent, lucide ; un des
hommes qui semblent faits pour être toujours en contact avec leur monde préféré : la
mer. Il a un gros nez, un gros front, de gros yeux qui peuvent détecter les profonds
secrets de la mer. Il offre, au premier aspect, une vague ressemblance avec Cousteau
qui a découvert les signes cachés d’un monde complètement différent du nôtre. Ses
dents sont noires et rares, sa bouche est si ridée qu’elle prononce un assemblage de
vocabulaire relatif au domaine maritime. C’est un excellent homme et un vrai pêcheur
professionnel. Une confiance en soi, une soumission de poissons tourmentés par

This is a little note to inform you that the final exam of the course of writing will require from you
to develop a one-paragraph essay following the format as shown in the examples included in these
word-documents. Make sure that your writing should display your ability to start with an effective
topic sentence comprising a topic and a controlling idea; three different types of supporting
sentences to back up what you are discussing; then, a concluding sentence. Pay attention to your
language and to your use of linking words. Your one-paragraph essay should not exceed 8 to 10
sentences. Please find attached 3 word documents including the structure of the paragraph,
supporting sentences and samples of one-paragraph essays.
