The language used for my Front Cover

As you can see here this is my rock magazine front cover. I really like this front cover, this is because it actually looks like a rock magazine. The masthead is ‘FIERCE’ I named my magazine this because it fits well into the rock genre because rock music is associated with something loud and angry and the word ‘FIERCE’ relates to this. So this means that this is an appropriate name that fits into the rock genre and will work well for my music magazine. The cover lines are also good, as they also relate back to the rock genre of music. For example on one of my cover line it says ‘FEATURING THE HARDCORE BANDS’. The word ‘HARDCORE’ is also associated with rock. I chose this word because it sounds really strong and realistic to rock. However this word was previously called ‘BADASS’ on my cover line, but I changed it to hard-core because I felt that Badass was associated with punk music. Also I went around and asked people which word they would prefer and most of them said Hard-core.

The language used for my contents page

This I my contents page, for my rock music magazine. What I particularly like about it is the colour scheme. This is because when the viewers or the readers look at it, then in my opinion I think that it will receive attention by it, as it looks intriguing mainly again by the colour scheme and also the main photograph that I have taken which lashes out. In my opinion I think that the wording which is in my contents is suitable for a rock magazine. This is because for example under the subheading ‘NEWS’ it says ‘Paramore in trouble’. This is a good cover line because firstly Paramore are a band of rock and secondly it says that they are in trouble. This will interest the reader because they may want to find out what sort of situation Paramore could be in. Also under the subheading ‘REVIEWS’, it has names of famous rock bands, which my target audience will be interested to read about.

The language used for my double page spread

This is my double page spread for my rock magazine. I think the wording on this is suitable because firstly the heading on this page is ‘WILD CHILD’. The word wild is associated with someone being really tough and all over the place. This word fits into the rock genre, as rock music is tough. Also I have created a pull quote in the middle which says ‘MY FANS DON’T REALLY KNOW WHO I AM’. This quote will attract readers to find out more about Ruby. The article is all about Ruby’s life, the words which are in red makes the article seem strong as they are all words related within rock.
