“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15
Watching my two-year-old great niece, Sophia, open her gifts with such joy reminded me Christmas is in-deed the season of giving! And what better gift have we all been given and celebrate every Christmas season and that is the gift of Jesus! What great joy Mary and Joseph must have felt as they looked at the amazing gift of baby Jesus sent to them by God! What great glad-ness we must all feel as we celebrate at Mass with friends, family and our Parish community, the birth of our Savior!
What an extraordinary gift that keeps giving! Jesus gave us His gifts by showing us how to live like good Christians through His word and works. He gave us His word in life, and through the Bible, His word con-tinues. He gave us His body and blood at the Last Sup-per and every time we celebrate the Eucharist at Mass. Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for us in dying for our sins was His own greatest gift to us.
We accept these precious gifts and show our apprecia-tion and love for Our Father and Jesus Christ, his Son, by being good disciples. We pass on these gifts as we go through our daily lives doing our best to exemplify the good word and works of Jesus. We give a gift away every time we do a good deed or say a kind word―every time we listen to someone who needs our help, every time we tend to those who need our sup-port, or give to someone less fortunate than ourselves.
How can I thank my great niece for putting a smile on my face, I wondered as I watched her dancing and sing-ing joyfully with her Minnie Mouse doll? How can I thank Jesus for all the wonderful things He has done for me? My promise to Him is to be the best disciple I possibly can be in continuing to spread His good word and do good works in His name. And I can help So-phia’s parents teach her about the most “indescribable” gift of all, Jesus Christ, our Savior.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only be-gotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Many families in our parish will be receiv-ing the Annual Catholic Appeal request mailing from Cardinal Cupich. On behalf of those served by the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you for your gifts. Please return your response as soon as possible.
The ACA offers a wonderful opportunity to answer Je-sus’ call to “Come, Follow Me.” Your donation helps provide for ministries and services throughout the Arch-diocese.
As we contemplate God’s many gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your finan-cial support for the work of our Parish, our Archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal.
When St. Ann reaches our 2018 goal of $33,917 in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our Parish. Last year, we sur-passed our 2017 goal and so far have received $6,840.58 in a rebate. Thank you for your generosity.
