Methodology for building damage assessment

§ Fragility curves for all building types were developed using a

combination of analysis and statistical data, the so-called ‘hybrid’

approach (Kappos et al. 1998, 2001).

§ 6 damage states (DS0 to DS5) were used in order to better suit the needs

of the risk scenario

• RISK-UE methodology offers a valuable framework for development of

seismic risk scenarios

• importance of Site Specific Studies in seismic risk scenarios

• request for inventory data for buildings and lifelines

• development of fragility curves for buildings and lifeline components

based on the European distinctive features (European typologies)

• the organization of mitigation policies is a political and economic

decision
