Flat Panels: High-Definition Television (HDTV): HDTV refers to a complete product/system with the following minimum performance attributes: Receiver: receives ATSC terrestrial digital transmissions and decodes all ATSC Table 3 video formats. Display Scanning Format: has active vertical scanning lines of 720 progressive (720p), 1,080 interlaced (1,080i) or higher. Aspect Ratio: capable of displaying a 16:9 image. Audio: Receives and reproduces, and/or outputs Dolby Digital audio (Consumer Electronics Association, August 2000). Plasma Display Systems display images consisting of hundreds of thousands of minute pixels (light emitting cells), and there is a possibility that some pixels may be inactive, flashing or continually illuminated. All phosphor-based display systems may develop image retention, sometimes called burn-in if permanent. Recommended guidelines are as follows: Do not display still images for long periods. Do not display content in the 4:3 aspect ratio (black or gray bars on left and right side of content) or letter-box content (black bars above and below of content) for extended periods of time, or use either of these viewing modes repeatedly within a short period of time. Pioneer’s Plasma Display Systems are equipped with multiple wide-screen viewing modes to fill the entire screen with content. Displaying dark images after displaying still images for a period of time may cause image retention. In most cases, the image retention can be corrected by displaying bright images for a similar period of time. However, if your Plasma Display System displays still images for additional long periods of time, image retention may be irreparable.

However, the pickup may not be able to play some CD-R or CD-RW discs recorded via PC, depending on the condition of discs and pickup or PC system setup parameters. Protection: (Digital Rights Management) Copy protection is a technology designed to prevent unauthorized copying by restricting playback, etc. of material or devices other than the PC (or other WMA recording equipment) used to record it. For detailed information, please see the instruction manuals or help files that came with your PC (or other WMA recoding equipment) and/or software. Compatible with MPEG1 Audio Layer3 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz formats. Recording format should be in accordance with ISO 9660 CD-ROM file system. MP3 file name requires mp3 as an extension. Chinese characters cannot be displayed, although files featuring them can be played. 299 tracks/folders can be played per disc. Can play with VBR (Variable Bit Rate), but playing time may not be shown correctly. CPRM copy protection technology, with scramble system, allows the recording of copy-once broadcast programs, but not copying of such recordings. CPRM recordings can only be made on DVD-RW discs in VR mode, and can only be played on CPRM-compatible players. When playing DTS-encoded (CDs, DVDs), excessive noise will be exhibited from the analog stereo outputs. To avoid possible damage to the audio system, take proper precautions when the analog stereo outputs of the DVD player are connected to an amplification system. To enjoy DTS Digital SurroundTM playback, an external 5.1 channel DTS Digital SurroundTM decoder system must be connected to the digital output (S/PDIF,AES/EBU, or TosLink) of the DVD player.

DVD Players: Note: DVD players and DVD Discs have Regional Code Classifications that determine their market area and compatibility. Discs and players must have matching codes in order to be played. All DVD players featured in this catalog are classed as Regional Code 1. Some discs may not be playable due to different recording formats or physical condition of the disc at the time of recording or playback. This label indicates playback compatibility with DVD-RW discs recorded in VR mode (Video Recording format). JPEG PhotoViewer (FUJICOLOR CD/Kodak Picture CD Compatible): This player is compatible with FUJICOLOR CD and Kodak Picture CD formats, as well as CD-R/RW/ROMs containing JPEG files (up to 648 files).
