Kamloops Parents with many volunteers are teaming up to provide gardening

related activities for the children attending

When you arrive at Seedy Saturday there will be an area in the atrium that will be

set up with tables and crafts to guide the children through

1. planting seeds for transplanting in cool weather

2. planting flowers for transplanting in warm weather3. painting flower pots

4. creating seed balls

5. face painting with Krystal Gardener (by donation)

The beautiful Atrium will be available for resting and thought gathering

Exchange Information

BRING YOUR SAVED SEEDS TO SHARE & PLACE THEM ON THE SEED

TABLE

You don't have to package them unless you would like to do so. The seeds need

to be labeled with the variety, name and date saved. Some information would be

great such as if you think that your saved seeds might have crossed with another

variety in the same species (e.g. you grew 2 different squashes) If you only grew

one variety of seeds in for the second year in order to grow seeds (e.g.

biennials such as carrots) then don't worry about crossing. Don't worry about

lettuce, tomatoes, peas, and beans as they are self-pollinating.

There is no expectation that you need to stay with your seeds. We will have signs

posted encouraging folks to take just enough for their own garden needs.

Germination rates are handy because it tells you how thickly to sow. If you havetime and want to get germination rates place 10 seeds on a wet wrung-out paper

towel in a zip lock bag. Place it in a warm area and don't let the paper towel dry

out. Within a week or so you should be able to determine your germination

rate. Simply multiply the number of seeds out of 10 that germinated times 10 to

get the percentage. 50% and above is best.

BRING YOUR OWN RECYCLED ENVELOPES if you can to put seeds into. If not

we will have some available.

Plant Exchange InformationIf you have houseplants, perennials or seedlings that you would like to trade

please bring in small and medium sized pots with labels if you know what they

are.

When you arrive at Seedy Saturday there will be a center area marked off where

the plants can be registered and exchanged for numbered tickets. Small pots willbe valued at $2 medium pots valued at $5. We will call out the groups in

numerical order starting at 11am to choose their plants for the value of their

tickets.

Once all of the tickets have been claimed any leftover plants will be sold as a

fundraiser for Seedy Saturday so if you want to donate any feel free.

Volunteer InformationWe are anticipating more people than ever and we will definitely be needing morevolunteers. We ask that volunteers donate 3 hours on the saturday of the event,either from 9-12 or 12-3. Volunteers will receive a food coupon and plant couponat the event as well as free admission and much appreciation for their efforts.

We need volunteers for:Helping Coordinators(2 at the start and finish) with sign posting, parking sign

posting then collecting signs. Dress warmlyRegistration/Info Desk (2) taking donations and information, coat checkSeed Exchange Table (2) managing the exchange of seedsPlant exchange Table (2) coordinating plant exchange at specific intervalsbetween 11am and 1pm Kids Zone (3) assisting with facilitating activities for toddlers and their parents.Facepainters are always welcome! We are working with kamloops parents andhopefully they will handle this and we have the Rayleigh girl guide troop who havevolunteered to helpEvaluations and Runners (2 could be the sign people) give out and collectevaluations, direct people to workshops

If you would like to volunteer, please email the station you would prefer to work atas well as what time that works best for you ( morning or afternoon ). If you canvolunteer more, that's great! Just let us know

Depending on the requests, we may not be able to place everyone in their firstchoice activities, our apologies.

GENERAL RULES & CONDITIONs

6. Kamloops Seedy Saturday will be abbreviated to KSS in this document

7. Participation in previous Seedy Saturdays does not guarantee acceptance for Seedy

Saturday 2015.

8. Space contracted by the exhibitor may not be transferred or shared by the exhibitor

without the prior written permission of the KSS.

9. KSS reserves the right to alter or change the space assigned.

10. The exhibitor shall repair at their own expense any damage to the space occupied by

them.

11. KSS reserves the right to refuse anyone entry and to remove anyone for cause.

12. Any Exhibitor who violates any of the terms & conditions or any part of the contract may

be barred from further attendance for such a period as may be decided by KSS

PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS

13. Full payment must accompany the signed application & must be received by MARCH 10,

2015. No refunds will be given for cancellations after MARCH 14, 2015.

14. Late or incomplete applications are not guaranteed a place.

15. Vendors will receive a confirmation of acceptance of their application via email or verbally

by March 14, 2015

16. Non-accepted applications will receive a full refund.

17. A space will not be considered sold & occupied until full payment has been made to &

confirmation received from KSS.

SELECTION CRITERIA

KSS reserves the right to select exhibitors based on the following criteria:

•  Products for sale must be GE Free

•  Early paid registrations

•  Exhibitors whose products are, or information is most pertinent to growing & seed saving

•  Certified & non-certified organic growers and their products & services

•  Exhibitors from the KAMLOOPS region

•  Displays that adhere to the regulations & restrictions of the TRU GRAND HALL

•  Aim for a total product & service ratio of 40% seeds & plants; 20% tools & garden

accessories; 20% information; 20% food and produce.

SET-UP/TEAR DOWN

•  The TRU Grand Hall will have table and chairs set up in advance before 8:30 am

Saturday March 21, 2015.

•  All exhibits must be completely set-up by 9:45 am.

•  Exhibitors are to provide table coverings, extra lighting, AV equipment, extension cords,

and signage as needed.

•  Only masking tape is allowed on the walls & tables – no pins, tacks, staples, etc.

•  Volunteers will help unload in the morning and pack-up after the event.

•  You cannot take down your exhibit before 2 pm.

•  Your designated area must be left in the same condition as when you arrived.

VENDOR SERVICES

•  On arrival, exhibitors are to check in at the Vendors/ Exhibitors Check-in Booth at the

loading door. Volunteers are available to submit your event evaluation at the end of the

day.

WEATHER

•  The event will continue whatever the weather: snow, rain, or shine.

LOAD IN/OUT & PARKING

•  Vendors may unload their vehicles at the lower level of the Grand Hall. Vendors can

park at no charge in properly designated areas.

PRODUCT/SPACE RESTRICTIONS

•  Products exhibited & sold are restricted to those products identified & approved on the

exhibit space contract.

•  Exhibitors must not exceed their allotted space.

•  All fire exit widths and aisle widths must be maintained at all times i.e. no portions of the

display, tables or chairs can intrude.

LATECOMERS/ NO –SHOWS

•  Any space not claimed or occupied by 9:45 am; or for which no special arrangements

have been made prior to 5 pm the night before; may be resold or reassigned by the

Coordinator and any monies paid will be forfeited.

WALL SPACE

•  Exhibitors with wall space are permitted to hang banners without visual interference to

other vendors

ELECTRICAL

•  Requests for power will be allotted in the order they are received and the applicationaccepted. Exhibitors must supply their own extension cords/power bars. No extension

cords will be run across aisles.

CASH TRANSACTIONS

•  Exhibitors are responsible for their own cash floats. There may be no ATM on site.

Limited change can be made through the KSS coordinators.

DOGS/PETS

•  Animals are not permitted inside the TRU building with the exception of Certified Assistance Dogs.

SMOKING

•  The TRU Grand Hall is a non-smoking building.

REFRESHMENTS

•  There will be beverages and snacks available for sale during the event. There are water

fountains available in the buildingINSURANCE/LIABILITY

•  KSS will not accept responsibility for injury to persons, loss of, or damage to, products,

exhibits, equipment or decorations by fire, accident, theft or any other cause, during the

event, move-in or move-out.

•  Licensing, insurance and collection of applicable taxes is the responsibility of the

exhibitor.

EVENT DAY PROGRAM•  The information from your application (i.e. contact name & number, products for sale, etc)

will be the information in the Event Program on the KSS website including links to your

website if you provide that information. Other information will be guided by the KSS

Privacy Policy as seen on the web site.

The coordinator must be notified before Match 1, 2015 of any changes to the information on

your application.

 ADVANCE PUBLICITY

•  Exhibitors, who apply before February 28, 2015 and are accepted, will have the

opportunity to be featured in advance publicity for Seedy Saturday 2015.

EVALUATIONS

•  Exhibitors will be asked to submit an evaluation of the event at the end of the day. This

information is extremely valuable in the continuing success of the event.

Dear Vendor at Kamloops Seedy Saturday:

Seedy Saturday exists to educate the public about the importance and value of maintaining

seed diversity by growing with local, high quality, and open-pollinated seed varieties.

In the Kamloops area, about 35% of the public are new to the event each year, so we certainlyare building awareness in this regard, assisted by the continued presence of longtime growers

with their heirloom and unique seed varieties. By establishing and maintaining standards

regarding seed and produce products, Seedy Saturday events will continue to be unique and

make a difference in our communities and for the environment overall.

Seed vendors are required to sign and return the ‘Seed Sourcing Pledge” below as part of your

registration requirements.

Kamloops Seedy Saturday is comprised of conventional, non-certified and certified organic

vendors. We have a good mix, and to continue educating the public, vendor signage and

packaging needs to be clear. Beginning in 2015, at Kamloops Seedy Saturday, Certified

Organic and Certified Natural Vendors should already have their designation on signage and

packaging. Non Certified Vendors with methods that cannot be verified are asked to avoid

“no spray and organic “ signage for public information. Descriptions of growing methods are OK

Kamloops Seedy Saturday is moving to a new venue this year! It’s an exciting move, bringingwith it many new opportunities, as well as some changes.

What time can we begin setting up?TRU will have all of the tables and chairs set up in advance. The doors will be open at 8:30amfor the Vendors to start setting up. Seedy Saturday will run from 10:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

How will the venue be set up? What will exhibitor booths be like?Tables will be arranged along the walls of the space to allow for free movement of peoplethroughout. If we are lucky enough to have a lot of vendors we will run a center row. Exhibitorswill be provided with one table and 2 chairs for each vendor space (no table cloth). Tables willbe placed at least 3 feet from the wall. If you require more space, need an electric plug or haveother special space requests that we are able to accommodate, please indicate your needs in

the application form. These will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

How will exhibitor booths be assigned?This year, Seedy Saturday organizers will be assigning spaces to exhibitors. There will be asite map emailed just in advance of the event and site maps will be posted at both entrances.We will have the Co-ordinators easily recognizable to guide you if you need any assistance

What products can be sold at Seedy Saturday? Anything to do with gardening ! Seeds, plants, composts, and other locally made garden-related products can be sold at Seedy Saturday.Produce, fresh, dried or frozen
