How Sedimentary Rocks Are Formed?

In the beginning rocks were broken down to small pieces because of erosion and weathering which, were then piled on each other and after a long time they formed in to a sedimentary rock.

Types of Sedimentary

Rocks.Flint

• A sedimentary rocks

• Used for weapons

• Frequently contains fossils

Sandstone-sometimes known as Arenite

• A sedimentary rock composed of sand sized minerals or rock grains- has many layers-some resistant from weathering.

Limestone-many layers –covers 10% of all sedimentary rocks

• Composed by the mineral calcite and aragonite

• Often has many fossils

Properties of Sedimentary

May contain fossils

May be found in oceans, floodplains, rivers, lakes, swamps and lagoons

Theses rocks are laid down in layers called beds of strata
