I About ezSigner Direct

Securely apply digital signatures and graphics to checks or other documents at the time they are printed with ezSigner Direct. A password is the key to unlock graphics and apply them while documents are being printed.

II System Requirements

1 GB RAM recommended or the min. requirements for the Microsoft OS 1 GB available on hard disk Windows™ Vista/7/8/10 User must have Windows Administrator permissions to install ezSigner. Software cannot be installed on a virtual machine.

III Installing and Activating ezSigner Direct 1.) After downloading ezSigner software, click the ezSigner Setup.exe from its saved location. This will launch

the ezSigner installation wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application.

2.) After successfully installing ezSigner, click the application icon on your desktop.

3.) If you have purchased the software, enter your Activation License Key on the activation screen, and click Activate.

4.) Alternatively, if you are using a trial version, click Start 30-Day Trial.

Note: A full-featured trial of ezSigner software will be available to you for 30 days. To continue using ezSigner after the trial period, contact AP Technology or your software reseller to purchase the software and receive an Activation License Key. You will provide the on-screen Request Code to the AP Technology representative to receive your Activation License Key.

5.) Log in with the default User Name and Password of “supervisor” and “password” (Note: Passwords are case sensitive.).

Installation and Activation – Login

IV Recommended Steps to Begin Using ezSigner Direct After installing ezSigner Direct:

1.) Configure system users.

2.) Create new overlays or Import overlays from another computer with ezSigner Direct.

3.) Confirm Advanced Settings.

4.) Begin using ezSigner. You can print your graphic overlays on documents you have already printed, or print directly from your accounting or other application ̶ using the ezSigner print driver to merge documents with the appropriate overlay in a single pass through the printer.

V Configuring Users 1.) Click Manage User from the Edit menu on the main navigation bar.

2.) From the User Administration window, select ‘supervisor’ from the user list on the left. Change the Username if desired. Change the default password for the user by double-clicking the Password field, entering a new Password, and confirming the Password.

3.) By default, this user has been assigned all available permissions. At a minimum, the user should retain Supervisor level permissions that allow them to Create / Edit Users. If needed, modify this user’s Permissions to View Event Log, View Audit Log, Import/Export Overlays, Create Overlays/Import Images and Print Overlays.

4.) When finished, click Save.

5.) If required, create additional users by clicking New, entering information for the new user, and clicking Save.

6.) When finished, click Close.

VI Updating Your Password 1.) To update your Password for any reason, select Update Password from the Edit menu on the main

navigation bar.

2.) Enter your Current Password. Then enter and confirm your New Password in the appropriate fields.

3.) When finished, click OK to save your changes.

VII To Modify Advanced Settings The Advanced Settings window is accessible from the Edit menu on the main navigation bar. The Advanced Settings allows a user to control two toggle settings:

Require additional audit information at print. Enabling this setting allows the print user to specify an account and range of check numbers during the printing process. This information will be recorded in the system Audit Log. See Printing Check Overlays and Printing Direct for additional information.

Print the overlay on top of data. Enabling this setting specifies that overlays will print on top of your data, instead of behind.

Advanced Settings (Default)

VIII To Create or Edit Overlays 1.) Select the overlay from the Overlay drop-down menu on the main screen. For a new overlay, select

<New Overlay>.

2.) Select Edit Overlay from the Edit menu in the main navigation bar.

3.) ezSigner’s overlay editor provides familiar functionality for designing and editing your overlays. Use the editor to create/edit your form layout. For more information, see Using the Overlay Editor.

4.) When finished, click Save from the File menu in the main navigation bar and give the overlay a name. The overlay will now appear in the list of Available Overlays on the main screen.

Using the Overlay Editor

Importing Signatures and Graphics

1.) From the overlay editor, click the Insert tab.

2.) Click the Picture icon.

3.) Browse to the location of the file on your computer and click Open. ezSigner direct supports .bmp, .dib, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .emf, and .wmf graphic formats. The graphic file will be placed in the overlay and can be repositioned or scaled as required.

Scaling Graphics To scale a graphic (proportionally) in the overlay editor, select the graphic and drag one its corner handles to reach the desired size. If you do not want to constrain the proportions as you scale, drag one of the edge handles or hold down the Shift key as you drag one of the corner handles.

Positioning Graphics or objects

1.) Graphics and text boxes can be repositioned. Simply select the object and drag it to the desired location.

2.) For more precise positioning, right-click the selection border of the target graphic. Click More Layout Options from the context menu. From the Position tab, you can specify the absolute Horizontal/Vertical position in inches from the left/top Margin or Page border.

Alternatively, the Horizontal alignment can be set to the left, center, or right relative to the margin/s or page border/s. The Vertical alignment can be set to the top, center, or bottom relative to the margin/s or page border/s.

4.) If a graphic needs to be placed above or below another graphic, select the target graphic and right-click the selection border to access a context menu with Bring to Front/ Send to Back commands.

Adding and Modifying Text The best way to add text to an overlay is to create a text box, format the text and box, and then position the text box in the desired location.

1.) From the Insert menu, click the Text Box icon. Add Text Box 1

2.) Place your cursor in the text box and type your message. 3.) From the Home tab, format the text font, size, style and color as required.

4.) Resize the text box if necessary using the selection handles. 5.) Position the text box as required. 6.) To eliminate the black border around the text box, select it and click the Format tab that appears. 7.) Under the Shape Outline menu, select No Outline. Alternatively, from the Format tab you could choose

to add a background and border color to the text box.

Adding a Watermark to a Signature or Graphic

1.) From the Insert tab of the overlay editor, click the Watermark icon to insert a prismatic watermark behind any of the graphics you have placed in the overlay.

2.) Select the graphic to which to apply the watermark, and click OK.

Note: To remove a watermark, simply select it and click delete on your keyboard.

Adding a Security Mark

From the Insert tab of the overlay editor, click the Security Mark icon to add the print date, time, and user in a small font to the overlay. This text can be formatted and moved as required.

3.) From the main screen, access the Print Direct screen by clicking the Print Direct button.

4.) You will see the number of files waiting to print. Select the correct overlay from the Overlay pull-down menu.

5.) To preview your documents with the overlay applied, click Preview. Click the forward and backwards arrows to review as many items as required. Click the 'X' in the upper right to close the preview pane.

6.) Click Print.

7.) If you are tracking account and check number information in the audit trail (See Advanced Settings.), the Provide Audit Details window will appear. Select the correct Account on the left and enter the Check Number Range (Note: For a single check number, enter a single check number.).

If required, to add a new Account, click New. The New Account Name dialog box will appear. Enter a New Account Name, as it should appear in the audit trail, and click Save. To edit an Account name, click Edit. The Edit Account Name dialog box will appear. Make changes, and click Save.

When finished, click OK.

8.) In the Print dialog box, select your printer, and click OK.

X Printing Overlays 1.) Place your printed checks or forms in the printer. Be sure to orient the paper according to the printer

tray instructions, in order for the overlay to print correctly on your documents.

2.) From the main screen, access the Print Overlay screen by clicking the Print Overlay button.

3.) Select the correct overlay from the Overlay pull-down menu, and specify the quantity to print using the Quantity pull-down menu.

4.) Click Print.

5.) If you are tracking account and check number information in the audit trail (See Advanced Settings.), the Provide Audit Details window will appear. Select the correct Account on the left and enter the Check Number Range (Note: For a single check number, enter a single check number.).

6.) In the Print dialog box, select your printer, and click OK.

XI Audit Log It is possible to view a comprehensive audit log of all documents printed with ezSigner. The Audit Log is searchable and exportable. It logs the following information about printed documents: User, Account, Check Number, Page Count, Overlay, Date, Printer, and whether the overlay was Printed with Data.

1.) From the main screen, access the Audit Log from the View menu.

2.) To filter the view, do any of the following:

a. Enter a criteria in the search box at the top of the screen (e.g. a starting or ending checknumber).

b. Filter the view by column data (e.g. all checks printed by a specific username) by clicking onthe thumbtack that appears when you hover over the column header. Select the target datafrom the menu that appears.

c. Click the column header to sort data in ascending/descending order.

3.) To export the complete Audit Log, click Export to .csv in the upper-left of the screen.

4.) To close the Audit Log, click the 'X' in the upper right.

XII Event Log It is possible to view a comprehensive list of all system activity. The Event Log is searchable and exportable. It records the following information about all system events: Event Type, User, Date, Overlay, and Item Adjusted.

1.) From the main screen, access the Event Log from the View menu.

2.) To filter the view, do any of the following:

a. Enter a criteria in the search box at the top of the screen (e.g. event type).

b. Filter the view by column data (e.g. event type) by clicking on the thumbtack that appears when you hover over the column header. Select the target data from the menu that appears.

4.) To close the Event Log, click the 'X' in the upper right.

XIII Exporting/Importing Overlays If you are adding ezSigner Direct to an additional computer, it is possible to import overlays from another installation of ezSigner Direct.

1.) From the computer containing the overlays, click Export Overlays from the Tools menu.

2.) Select the overlays to export. Save the overlays in a directory that is accessible to the second computer where the overlays will be imported, or plan to move the exported overlay files to such a location after exporting.

3.) From the second computer, click Import Overlays from the Tools menu and navigate to the folder containing the exported overlays. Select the overlay to import, or, CTRL-click to select multiple overlays, and click Open. The overlay/s will be automatically moved to ezSigner's template folder and available for use on the second computer.

Term Definition

Activation License Key

An Activation License Key is required to activate your ezSigner software and is provided by AP Technology following your ezSigner purchase.

Advanced Settings

The Advanced Settings screen allows a user to toggle two settings: (1.) Require additional audit information at print (for tracking Account and Check Number Range in the Audit Log). (2.) Print the overlay on top of data.

Audit Log

The Audit Log is a searchable and exportable record of all documents printed with ezSigner. It includes information on Event Type, User, Account, Check Number Range, Page Count, Overlay, Date, Printer, and whether the overlay was Printed with Data.

Event Log

The Event Log is a searchable and exportable record of all system activity. It includes information on Event Type, User, Date, Overlay, and Item Adjusted.

Export Overlays The Export Overlays function allows a user to export overlays for use in another installation of ezSigner Direct..

Import Overlays The Import Overlays function allows a user to import overlays from another installation of ezSigner Direct.

Overlay

The Overlay contains the signatures and graphics that will be securely added to your already printed checks/documents, or, alternatively, merged with check/form data by printing directly from an application to create finished checks/forms.

Permissions

Permissions are configured from the User Administration screen. The following user permissions can be assigned: Create / Edit Users (Supervisor level), Create Overlays / Import Images, and Print Overlays

Print Direct

ezSigner Direct allows a user to print directly from their accounting or other application by using the ezSigner print driver to securely merge a check/form file with the correct ezSigner overlay at the time documents are printed. The Print Direct screen is where a user selects the appropriate overlay during the print procedure.

Print Overlay

A signature/graphic overlay can be securely applied to checks or other documents that have already been printed using ezSigner’s Print Overlay functionality.

Request Code

The Request Code that appears on ezSigner’s activation screen is a unique ID associated with your software installation. This code should be provided to an AP Technology representative in order to receive the Activation License Key that is required to activate your software.

Security Mark

The Security Mark is an optional overlay feature that will display the print date, time, and user. A Security Mark can be formatted and placed in any location on your overlay.

Watermark

The Watermark is an optional overlay feature that places a prismatic watermark behind a specified signature/graphic.
