Quality management
The basis of our quality is the Günther quality system.
Günther is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. Each produc-
tion step meets high quality demands, from development to completed
assembly. Internal process optimisation ensures top quality and flexibili-
ty, for example, in the case of “just for you” solutions. Not every door sys-
tem can be manufactured in standard production. Our engineers relish
the challenge of developing an individual door for you.
Post-purchase guarantee
The success of Günther lies in our attention to
detail. Detailed information is archived for every
door produced by us. Technical information thus
exists to this very day on every door ever pro-
duced and sold by Günther.
Even after many years, this guarantees that
Günther can supply matching spare parts,
whether panels, electrical components or mo-
tors. In the shortest possible time and in proven
Günther quality combined with the Günther guarantee.
The Günther team
“It can’t be done” - you won’t hear that at Günther. Our development,
technical, sales, production and service employees will find the best so-
lution for you. At Günther, your wish is at the centre of attention.
Our professional employees dedicate themselves to you.
One-source production
All important parts are produced by Günther themselves in Westerwald.
Günther has a modern colour coating system that works with both wet
paint and powder.
Door components of up to 13 metres in length can be powder coated
or wet painted with the system. The panels are manufactured on our
own double-belt system, which is over 100 metres long, using a proven
procedure. Patented profiling in conjunction with foam ensures high-sta-
bility steel sandwich panels which are also used for our largest section-
al door systems.
Environmental awareness
Environmental protection is an important subject at Günther. The mod-
ern environmental management system integrated in the company is a
self-commitment which is taken very seriously by management and em-
ployees of Günther alike. For instance, 100% CFC-free hard foam,
foamed with pentane, is manufactured in the highest quality during pan-
el production. The ozone-killing CFC is therefore never produced and
the pentane ensures around 15% better thermal insulation values.
Our environmental protection also encompasses the colour coating.
A state of the art lacquering system enables not only paint overspray re-
cycling, but also appropriate exhaust air filtering systems guarantee en-
vironmental protection that significantly exceeds required values.

of doors? They possess vast
riches of experience without
which a test cannot be meaning-
fully executed.
However, experience alone is not enough if it is not supplemented by
theoretical knowledge and command of the corresponding regulations.
That requires continuous training. Günther is up-to-date, where test
know-how and the latest regulations are concerned too.

Testing according to accidentprevention regulations
Basic principle
Motor-driven door systems must be tested before taking into operation
for the first time and afterwards as required, but at least once per year.
The object of the test is to determine the safe working condition of the
system. In order to judge this, expertise is required, which encompass-
es both knowledge of the respective technical rules and regulations and
also mastery of technical correlationships.
This expertise is possessed first and foremost by the manufacturer and
his employees.
Who is better qualified to recognise problems and judge a system, if not
those whose daily work revolves around the construction and assembly

Not all doors are the sameShowrooms, diagnostic areas, workshop. The right function for every application
Showrooms should be as transparent as possible. The exhibit stands to
the fore, the architecture underlines it. Doors for other areas of a mod-
ern car dealer’s premises should blend elegantly into the architecture, be
functionally reliable and comply with the latest safety requirements.
Bright, daylight-filled workshops reduce lighting costs. Individual oper-
ating functions are standard in this age of electronic controllers. Günther
sectional industrial doors are ideally suited to this task. The model type
909 aluminium frame rung construction and the model series 709, a
combination of closed steel sandwich sections in conjunction with alu-
minium frame rung sections, enable the realisation of almost all cus-
tomer wishes. The doors are offered in all colours of the RAL palette.
Choose the colour to suit your corporate identity.

Individual solutions for the highest demandsElegant, functional, durable and safe –the engineers from Günther develop the perfect door for you
One of Günther’s prestige objects: The Ferrari Formula One Centre in
Maranello. Sectional doors in rounded hall walls with individually devel-
oped track systems – a challenge for development, production and as-
sembly which our engineers mastered perfectly. 707 steel sandwich
panel sectional doors coated in the colour of the hall, each with 3 win-
dows which were integrated in one of the central sections. The 4th and
6th sections had to be secured with extra reinforcing frames due to the
door width of over 5500 mm. Special rails ensure perfect and trouble-
free function.
This Günther sectional door meets the Ferrari standard exactly: elegant,
highly functional, durable and safe.
Other automobile manufacturers also trust the reliable Günther section-
al doors. With very different requirements for which Günther develops
made-to-measure solutions. For example, sectional doors with a large
light strip section. They ensure bright and friendly workplaces and con-
tribute to the saving of energy.
Or sectional high-speed doors. They are used in production areas where
short opening times are demanded. Production halls with integrated
crane systems often require special rail constructions.
Whether special controllers or safety components tailored individually to
the building project – the Günther technicians are equipped for every
eventuality and put requirements explicitly into practice.
Technically and aesthetically perfect. Quality from Germany: Günther.

Transparent presentation and optimum functionality The appropriate door type for individual areas of application –representative and perfectly tailored to your needs
Shopping centres have many doors. Sectional doors are used here in
every conceivable area. Transparency, optimum functionality and also
safety aspects play a great part here.
The installation of electronic items such as telephones, radios and nav-
igation systems etc. in cars takes place behind secure sectional doors.
Doors for goods inwards areas secure the area of the hall where in-
coming goods are checked and intermediately stored for short peri-
ods. A sectional door must not only work quickly and reliably here, it
should also be flexible to handle. Günther sectional doors adapt them-
selves automatically to the season. A change of switch setting is
enough. In cold winter months, the sectional door can be partly
opened with the “winter operation” door setting, so that heated air in-
side the stores does not escape too quickly.
The refuse stations integrated in the centres also require large doors as
a rule, so that refuse collection trucks can easily load and manoeuver.
Sectional doors effectively seal this mostly non-representative area off
from the outside when not in use.
Further areas of use in shopping centres are access roads, sluices and
partitions. For all the above-mentioned building areas, the doors are
implemented with a track system to precisely suit the requirement.
Günther has made the particular requirements of this area of applica-
tion its speciality.
Safety standards have been developed for well-known retail organisa-
tions which, above all, integrate burglar protection. Strengthened rails,
secured against twisting via steel pipe sub-frames, powder-coated in
all RAL colours if desired, increase burglar protection significantly. Like-
wise the lifting prohibitor which, in Günther sectional doors, is com-
bined with the broken rope safety device for better effectiveness. Lift-
ing the door from outside is impossible, thanks to this Günther safety
device. This safety component is TÜV tested and fulfils the current
safety standards.
Rapid-opening doors in highly-frequented work areas can be com-
bined with other door types such as, for example, PVC high-speed
doors or fire-prevention doors.

Naturally the protection of persons who are located in the respective
door areas is most important. All doors comply with the latest European
safety standards and are certified by a notified testing station in accord-
ance with DIN EN 13241-1.
Electrical safety and monitoring components allow the connection of
door controllers to fire alarms systems or to internal monitoring systems
which notify a monitoring centre whether a door is open or closed. Sev-
eral or, if desired, all doors can be opened or closed together by means
of a group controller.
There is practically no limits to the design of the doors as regards colour
and division. Thus the frames rung of the door type 909 can be coated
in a different colour to the fillings. Optionally, the 707 and 709 can usu-
ally be easily produced in colours corresponding to the customer’s cor-
porate design.

Work in a pleasant atmosphereHigh daylight incidence and reduction of energy costs are just as important at Günther as fuctionality, safety devices and durability
Whether small industrial firms or large industrial concerns – the widest
variety of sectional doors is required for the widest variety of types of
manufacturing. Make your choice and decide which version you would
like. Günther offers the right solution for all manufacturing branches. And
if, by way of an exception, no sectional door can be supplied due to
structural conditions, then Günther, with its complete assortment, has
the right door for your hall in every case.
Depending on production, the widest variety of requirements can be de-
cisive for the choice of version. Light-filled halls, which take into account
energy-saving concepts, are just as much in demand as doors with a
high K-value. The subject of emission and heating cost reduction is par-
ticularly relevant for the selection of the right product in times of contin-
ually rising energy costs.
But other subjects such as functionality, safety devices and durability are
also factors in deciding on an investment. Günther maintains a network
of technical field service employees right across Europe who will offer
you competent and problem-orientated advice.

POST – BASE, Kalsdorf / Graz, Austria57 custom-made sectional doors
Design of the doors
The building project was built in the immediate vicinity of an ammunition
store, therefore the doors had to be designed to withstand an explosive
pressure specified by the military command.
Requirement according to LV:
Explosive pressure:
The object is located in the outer danger area of the Kalsdorf ammuni-
tion stores. In the case of an explosion, the door systems must be able
to withstand the following pressure forces:
Doors 1–28 380 kg 14 ms
Doors 29–56 770 kg 14 ms
The doors must not be torn out of the guide tracks after an explosion.
Various track systems were used. Besides the standard track system,
high-lift and vertical hardware was used.
Reinforcement of the panels and sightsections
• The glazing was implemented with 2 x 3 mm thick clear polycarbon-
ate that withstands a pressure wave of 7.7 kPa.
• Multiple bolting of the aluminium glass holder frames to the support
frame.
• The frame rung construction was provided with reinforcement fins.
• The panel sections were reinforced by means of a top-hat profile.
• The connection between rail and frame was reinforced by means of
additional welds (spot welding).
• All hinges were doubled.
• The rails were fastened with a double number of special mounting
brackets.
The doors are implemented with a manual bolt with electrical power-off
for the counterlockin of the door to the ramp.

17
18 doors were manufactured in separable versions for 3 opening
heights.
1. Loading the WAPs: 1st and 2nd sections are decoupled by means of a
manual lock which is electronically secured and the door is opened to
a clearance height of 3750 mm.
2. Loading small trucks: The door is coupled together and the entire
door system is opened to a clearance height of 2200 mm.
3. Fork-lift traffic: By means of changing over a selection switch, the en-
tire door is opened to a clearance height of 3200 mm.
The door systems are fitted with a direct drive without the use of a spring
shaft in order to provide the various opening heights.
In order to avoid accidents, the control of the electronic locking and un-
locking is technically designed such that the door can only be operated
if it is handled correctly (locking on both sides).
The building owner additionally required the optical appearance of the
doors to be uniform.

Safe technology for emergenciesGünther sectional doors also fulfil the required safety specificationsin this area and can be manually or electrically operated
Whether doors for fire and ambulance stations or sectional doors for po-
lice halls, the requirements are similar. Besides short opening times, pro-
tection against weather, theft or damage must be ensured. Additionally,
the doors should blend harmoniously into the architecture of the build-
ing.
The fire brigade in Rennerod planned a new fire station for the fire
brigade of the association of municipalities. A total of 5 sectional doors
was required for the garage sections.
3 doors of type 709 FI were built – clearance width 8135 mm, clearance
height 3640 mm.
The door leaves are a combination of steel sandwich sections, Classic
surface (embossed and microlined) and aluminium frame rung con-
struction; the door leaves are finished outside in RAL 3000 flame red and
inside in RAL 9002.
These individual door leaves are divided into 7 fields and 5 sections.
Frame rung constructions made from bolted aluminium extrusion
pressed frame form the sections. The section thickness, without rein-
forcement, is 45 mm. The fields and sections are arranged in accord-
ance with the applicable stability requirements. The aluminium sections
are fitted with double-walled plastic panes; the thickness is thereby 16
mm. Due to the width of 8135 mm, the individual sections were provid-
ed with additional reinforcing frames.
The individual sections are connected together via stable stainless steel
hinges.
The door systems are fitted with the following safety devices:
• Cable break device
• Spring break device
• opto-electronic safety edge
• Finger protection system
• internally-routed cables
The fire brigade doors are driven by an electrical chain wheel drive unit
type: elero ER 140.21, fitted with a disengageable coupling.
This enables the doors to be opened as quickly as possible, even in the
case of a power failure. The controller allows safe operation of the door
systems for self-holding.

Safety and control devices made to measureSpecial doors for large car parks must fulfil the widest variety of tasks – Günther offers a great number of possible variations
Underground car parks and multi-storey car parks should basically
be locked, or at least at certain times (mostly at night). A sectional
door lends itself here in many cases. If the structural conditions are
favourable, a Günther type 909 sectional door is the right choice. The
aluminium frame rung construction can be fitted with diverse fillings.
In most cases, an underground car park must also enable forced
ventilation. A good solution is the use of holed sheet metal or ex-
panded metal mesh with a sufficient ventilation cross-section in
accordance with regulations. In this case, pull-in protectors must
always be installed as basic safety devices. Further safety devices in-
clude lateral interference protection, internally-routed cables, rope
and spring break devices. All Günther doors fulfil the requirements of
DIN EN 13241-1. Side doors, which optically match the sectional
door or are mounted with a bezel frame, are often supplied as access
doors.
For higher frequencies of operation, it is necessary to increase the
strength of the torsion springs which balance the weight of the door leaf.
Günther offers springs rated up to 100,000 load changes in its sup-
ply range. This guarantees trouble-free function until the next main-
tenance. In accordance with legal requirements, every electrically-
driven door must be subjected to an examination according to the
accident prevention regulations by a surveyor at least once per year.
This service is also offered by Günther.
Of great importance for door systems in large car parks is the correct
choice of safety and control devices, e.g. the hold-open times, auto-
matic closing, one-way regulations and many others. We can offer
you a great number of electrical control components for the solution
of virtually any requirements.

Large-scale sectional doorsA high degree of stability and resistance to wind pressure –a challenge for our engineers!
These sectional doors (page 23) are really impressive.
Door area: 100 m2. Width: 12.5 metres. Height: 8 metres. Every single
one of these doors, which are made from steel sandwich panels, weighs
almost 2 metric tonnes. The base section alone weighs in at 270 kg. The
location is the new 26,000 m2 logistics centre in Brake, which is
equipped with eight of these doors.
In view of their size, they also make their mark on the shape of the build-
ing complex.
They were planned and built by Günther on the basis of the Günther 707
model series. Stable steel sandwich panels with special reinforcements.
The actual technical challenges involved in this project were the stability
of the entire structure and the resistance of the doors to wind pressure.
The customer had specified the wind load to be overcome as force 10.
The engineers solved this problem by further reinforcing the steel sand-
wich panels compared to the standard versions. The inner sides of the
panels were provided with special reinforcing frames in order to fulfil the
requirements with regard to wind load.
Besides this, the panels have a 45 mm thick, CFC-free hard foam core,
foamed with pentane, which offers 15% better insulation values than
conventionally foamed panels. This is joined shear resistant to the cov-
ering sheets. It also stabilises the sheets effectively against shearing and
denting. The result: Even under very great loads, the 12.5 metre-wide
panels do not flex more than 23 mm.
High-strength exterior hinges are fitted as standard to Günther doors.
The sections, from which each of the heavy doors is composed, are
connected together by V2A hinges. So that the heavy sections do not
tear apart from each other due to the high stresses of opening and clos-
ing, Günther uses high quality standard stainless steel hinges. As tests
have proved, these standard hinges handle the forces which arise with
ease: The hinges did not tear out even during traction tests with mo-
mentary forces of 500 kg. That means: The sections of a door would
have remained connected to each other despite these enormous loads
which would not arise in reality.
Sturdy components: Other components were adapted to the dimen-
sions of the door. The drive unit lifts its load by means of smoke-tube
shaft, robust rope drum and special steel ropes to the rope holders
which are anchored to the base section. The doors themselves move on
non-derailable rollers which run in rails. The raised track systems enable
the hall user to use the entire height of the hall, which is 10 metres on
average.

These doors must withstand extreme conditionsGünther offers the highest quality components for perfect appearance and long-term functional reliability
Vehicle washing plants pose particular problems. Since water and ag-
gressive detergents place great strain on the door components, high
quality parts must be selected for this application. Günther offers hinges,
rails and other door fittings in stainless steel. This prevents unsightly cor-
rosion and guarantees long-term functional reliability.
Vehicles of all kinds are cleaned and brought optically up to scratch in
special washing plants in the shortest space of time. This works thanks
to state of the art washing systems. The use of chemicals employed in
an environmentally-friendly manner is, however, indispensable. The
highest demands are thereby placed on the vehicle washing plant and
its equipment.
The door systems in particular are subject to the greatest demands,
whereby the choice of washing plant is also influenced by the overall ap-
pearance.
The sectional door must withstand the aggressive conditions in a wash-
ing plant.
This usually makes the use of high quality components such as stainless
steel necessary.
Unfortunately, this fact is often not or not sufficiently discussed in the
toughness of competition. Depending on the type of washing plant,
there is wide range of meaningful equipment variations.
Günther offers individual made-to-measure equipment versions, which
satisfy the respective demands and which can be steplessly expanded.
Your washing plant sectional doors will thus retain their good looks for
years and can be operated reliably.
The door leaf fittings such as hinges, roller holders or roller holder brack-
ets are made from stainless steel as standard at Günther.
Specially tilted glass panels are used for the doors of washing plants,
which ensure that spray water runs off the door leaf so that the chemi-
cals in the washing water are in contact with the door leaf for the short-
est possible time. Special plastic glazing is offered as an option.
The Günther washing plant glazing ensures that the panes remain free
of fogging for at least 10 years.
If the washing plant moves very close to the door leaf, diverse powder-
coated galvanised components can be supplied, such as the frame,
rails, frame fixing brackets, suspension brackets or cover sheets. This
prevents corrosion reliably. Likewise, our ball-bearing rollers can be or-
dered with stainless steel axles.
Günther offers you an optimisation package for the electrical compo-
nents of washing plant doors. All components are supplied in class IP65.
For door leaf weights of up to 230 kg, a direct drive without torsion
spring can be used. This prevents torsion springs from rusting due to
aggressive washing water, which would leave corresponding marks on
the inner side of the door. All electrical fixings are designed with seals for
use in washing plants.
The supporting ropes can be optionally supplied in stainless steel, the
galvanised spring buffers which cushion the door at its opened end po-
sition can be replaced by gas pressure dampers. Just ask us, we have
the right solution to your requirements.

A second door of over twice the width (9350 x 4580 [W x H]) was
planned to the right. Both doors are connected to a wide, central sup-
port, which is comprised of a steel frame construction fitted on the out-
side with steel sandwich panels with aluminium cladding, and which can
be tilted out of the way. The respective right or left rails of the two sec-
tional doors are mounted to this support. The support is locked and un-
locked from inside via a double bolt locking system operated by a hand-
crank and is fastened to the lintel via a hinge. If the support is unlocked,
it can be “folded up” through 90° via the top-mounted hinge by means
of an electric motor (elero plug-on drive with double rope drum). If
the total largest possible opening width is required, both sectional
doors must first be completely
opened. The central support is
subsequently unlocked and
folded upwards electrically.
With that, the maximum open-
ing width and height is available.
Electrical safety devices reliably
prevent the sectional doors from
being operated when the sup-
port is open. Competence has a
name – Günther.
The problems which the engineers at Günther have to solve are not al-
ways everyday problems. For example: The Thermofin GmbH company
in Heinsdorfergrund had a hall built that usually only normal vehicles
drive into. A smaller sectional door would suffice here. However, a few
times a year, a daylight opening width of around 15000 mm is required,
and that at the full door height of 4580 mm! Both doors can only be driv-
en through from one side; the total width of the hall is insufficient to be
able to install 2 door systems alongside each other. Both doors were
supposed to be supplied as aluminium doors in frame rung construction
(909), the lowest section with closed fillings, the remaining sections with
plastic double-glazing.
Middle support total opened, themaximum width is available

Building project – Doll FahrzeugbauGmbH, OppenauThe Doll company, an important manufacturer of vehicle
superstructures, is expanding its Oppenau facility. In the
course of the expansion, a decision had to be made
whether to enlarge production at the Oppenau site or to
relocate it abroad.
The executive management invested in the German fac-
tory.
In order to produce around the clock in three shifts,
several requirements had to be fulfilled. One of the re-
quirements was that a specified noise level value must
not be exceeded in a nearby residential area.
In close co-operation with the engineering consultants and the steel
construction company commissioned by the customer, the Günther en-
gineers developed a technically high quality solution that also blended in
outstandingly with the façade of the Doll company’s new building.
All door systems were supplied as sectional doors in the 709 version.
The door sizes lie within the range of approx. 6000 x 4500 mm (clear-
ance width x clearance height).
On the side of the hall facing the residential area, special door systems
were developed for the above-mentioned reasons of soundproofing.
The solution was to mount sectional doors in the hall with a special field
division. On the outside of the door opening, double-walled rolling door
systems were integrated in a special sub-structure at a distance of
around 500 mm to the sectional door systems. These double door sys-
tems are operated with a specially developed control program. Thus all
doors, i.e. any open sectional doors and rolling doors, close automati-
cally, for example at the start of the night shift.
Diverse electrical safety devices ensure that the door systems can be
operated without accidents and naturally that they satisfy all require-
ments of the current standards.

Outstanding thermal and sound insulation The highly-insulated steel sandwich sectional door with 45 mm thick, pentane foamed panels
High quality materials and accomplished workmanship guarantee the
best results. Our 707 sectional doors are leaders in material, features
and functions. They are comprised of double-wall sheet steel elements
with polyurethane hard foam cores, which are foamed without CFCs.
The thickness of the section, and thus the entire door leaf, is 45 mm,
which offers outstanding thermal insulation and soundproofing proper-
ties. These properties are supported by special temperature-resistant
EPDM sealing rubbers, which form a barrier to wind and moisture. Par-
ticularly large doors or doors which are subjected to extreme conditions
are provided with a special reinforcing frame on the inner side.
The standard height of the sections lies between 500 and 625 mm. They
are connected to one another by means of rustproof hinges. This guar-
antees safety and durability. Naturally we also offer you individual heights
to enable adaptation to existing façades or door designs. The base sec-
tion can be individually adapted to sloping door entrances. The panels
are structured with microlining and wood grain on the outer side and
have a smooth surface with longitudinal ribbing on the inner side. The
surface is coated with a polyester resin with imbedded polyamide parti-
cles.
Last but not least, our 707 sectional doors offer outstanding value for
money with high standards of quality and features and represent gen-
uine alternatives to aluminium doors.

Sectional doors require a small amount of space at the sides and in the
lintel area. For structural reasons, it is sometimes the case that this min-
imum necessary space is not available or, in the case of steel halls for
example, that the area above the door should be closed such that an ar-
chitecturally high quality appearance can be achieved.
Günther offers made-to-measure solutions for such situations. Whether
707 steel sandwich panel doors or 909 aluminium frame rung doors,
Günther can offer you facings which optically match the door. Optional-
ly in almost all RAL colours.
Cladding or facing with different thicknesses of aluminium sheets is also
no problem for Günther. Sub-structures often need to be aesthetically
improved. In this case, a facing of this type is your best choice. The fac-
ing can be supplied in natural aluminium, anodised in E6/EV1 or in al-
most all RAL colours.
In workshops, the individual workshop areas are often partitioned off
from one another for the widest variety of reasons. The factor of light
plays a great part here. Conventional glass elements are heavy and must
be planned with elaborate constructions. This causes considerable
costs. Günther offers fixed field elements made from aluminium frame
rung constructions. Depending on requirements, these are single or
double-glazed with acrylic or safety glass.
Designed exactly to your requirements. Anodised in E6/EV1 or, at a
small surcharge, in almost all RAL colours. Sliding and revolving doors
can also be integrated. Just ask us, our engineers will develop a made-
to-measure solution for you.

709 sectional doorThe synthesis of double-walled, insulated steel sandwich panelsand aluminium frame rung sections
If 707 steel sandwich panels are combined with 909 aluminium frame
rung sections, the result is a door leaf with proven advantages. 707 sec-
tions are often only desired in the lower area of the door, in order to be
able to clean off spray water dirt easily.
The entry of light often only makes sense from the 2nd section upwards.
Thanks to the steel sandwich base section, the door has very good stat-
ic properties, whilst the following glazing sections guarantee bright and
light-filled halls. Optimum working conditions and an elegant appear-
ance.
Durable and economical. The 45 mm thick steel sandwich panels are
manufactured with CFC-free insulating foam, foamed with pentane for a
high thermal insulating value. The aluminium frames/rungs can be sup-
plied with double or triple acrylic glazing. This reduces heating costs per-
manently.
Both door leaf elements are ideally matched to one another. The 707
panels are available in up to 8 standard colours. A particularly suitable
colour is white aluminium (similar to RAL 9006), which matches the 909
frame rung elements, anodised in E6/EV1, outstandingly. Naturally the
entire door leaf can be optionally coated in almost all colours of the RAL
palette. Wide doors are fitted with reinforcing frames on the inner side of
the door leaf.

A convenient and practical additionSelect a suitable equipment version to make your working day easier !
Side doorsA side door, separated from the door system, is the right choice if suffi-
cient space is available. Günther offers side doors in the same optical
design as the planned door system if desired. This applies to all sectional
door types (707, 709 and 909) manufactured by Günther. An essential
aspect concerns safety: Side doors have no door sill and are full-value
escape doors complying with safety regulations. Hand trucks and other
lifting devices can pass through the door without hindrance. People and
vehicles are kept apart. The side doors can be mounted directly adja-
cent to a sectional door; mounting in or behind a suitable wall opening
is likewise no problem.
Side doors can open inwards or outwards as desired, hinged DIN left or
DIN right. All side doors are fitted with a lock and handle and prepared
for a profile cylinder.

A pass door is always a practical additional feature of a sectional door
when no other doors are situated in the vicinity of the door system. Peo-
ple can pass through the door without having to open the entire door.
Amongst others, this saves heating / air condition costs. For safety rea-
sons, all pass doors open outwards. A special safety switch ensures that
electrically driven sectional doors can only be operated when the pass
door is closed. A safety switch is prepared for manually operated doors.
The DIN hinge is located at the short side and the pass door is posi-
tioned in the 2nd field from the outside.
Pass doors are available for all sectional door types (707, 709 and 909).
The aluminium door frames can be optionally matched to the colour of
the door, they are delivered as standard in E6/EV1.
A toothed strap hinge extending over the full height of the door looks el-
egant, makes the use of applied strap hinges superfluous and ensures
the greatest possible freedom for maintenance.
The installation of windows (oval or rectangular versions) in the 707 ver-
sion is possible at extra cost.
All pass doors are fitted with a top door closer and a lock and handle
prepared for a profile cylinder. Other locks, e.g. with panic function, and
other handle combinations such as handles both sides or knobs round
off the range.

Track systemsTube shaft
The compensation of the weight of the door leaves of sectional doors is
usually achieved by the use of torsion springs.
Günther uses high quality zinc dust coated torsion springs here.
These torsion springs can only be used up to certain door sizes and
weights. For example, in the case of narrow, tall door systems, where
the installation area of the springs is insufficient due to the cramped
space, or in the case of very wide doors, where the use of torsion
springs is impossible due to the torsion in the 1” or 11/4” solid shaft.
Günther has already considered this problem many years ago and de-
veloped the tubular shaft or solid shaft drive.
Instead of a spring shaft, a coated smoke-tube shaft / solid shaft is used.
The rope drums are directly fixed to this shaft.
This tubular/solid shaft is driven by a plug-on drive which has an inte-
grated catching device with a brake. Alternatively, it may be necessary
to use a chain wheel drive unit. In this case, an unreeling protection in-
stalled on the tubular shaft is used instead of the catching device built
into the drive.
But even in the case of smaller doors, the choice of a tubular/solid shaft
version may be practical.
For vehicle washing plant doors, for example, better protection against
corrosion can be achieved, since the solid shaft can be better protect-
ed against corrosion than the torsion spring.
Torsion springs corrode after a short time if they are permanently ex-
posed to chemical cleaning agents. The usual results of this are un-
sightly rust deposits in the washing plant.
Besides rust prevention, however, there are other areas of application.
The high frequency of use of a door system, for instance the door of an
underground car park or a workshop entrance, makes the use of a tu-
bular/solid shaft practical. This system allows high frequency of opera-
tion without the risk of spring breakage. The subsequent maintenance
and repair costs are correspondingly low.
