(C) Question 1 Last Friday, Samy, Ming Seng and Jamil were playing football on the school field. The field was wet so it was muddy and slippery. They were enjoying themselves in the field. Suddenly, Samy kicked the ball to the goalpost. Jamil ran to stop it but he slipped. He fell and cried out in pain. Samy and Ming Seng quickly ran to help. They were very frightened. They saw a cut on Jamil’s calf and it was bleeding. Samy and Ming Seng helped Jamil up and walked him to a bench at the edge of the field. A teacher saw the incident and ran over to them with a first-aid kit. The teacher cleaned and bandaged the cut. They thanked their teacher gratefully. After that, Samy and Ming Seng accompanied Jamil home. They regretted and promised to turn over a new leaf. Question 2

One day. Nadia took her cousin to the playground in her neighbourhood. She was shocked to see the condition of the playground. The grass and bushes were overgrown. There was only one dustbin and it was full. Nadia and her cousin were very disappointed.

At home, Nadia and her cousin decided to organise a gotong-royong. Nadia talked to

her parents and they thought that it was a good idea. Nadia and her cousin designed a leaflet. They printed copies and distributed them to their neighbours.

On the day of the gotong-royong, a lot of the residents gathered at the playground.

Some cut the grass and bushes. Others helped to pick up the rubbish. Several residents collected some money and bought recycling bins.

They worked very hard. After two hours of cleaning, the surrounding looked sparkling

clean and tidy. They were very happy. As the saying goes, ‘Unity is strength’.
