FACT SHEET

NO FAULT DISCOUNT

What is a No Fault Discount (NFD)?

A No Fault Discount (NFD) is a discount that the Insured earns if he does not make an at-fault claimon his car insurance policy.

If no at-fault claim is made under the policy, the No Fault Discount will be increased at renewal as perthe No Fault Discount Scale on Page 5.

How will the NFD be affected if a claim is made under the policy?

If an event occurs that we anticipate might give rise to a claim under the policy in Years 1, 2 or 3, theNFD will be removed. However, if the Insured is earning the maximum NFD, the Discount will bereduced to Year 2 Discount.

Are there any events that will not affect the NFD?

Typically, any Discount earned will be reduced or removed if a claim is made under the policy.

At BCIC the NFD will NOT be removed or reduced in the following situations unless there is clearevidence that the Insured is in fact at fault:

Rear End Collision: Where the car is struck flush in the rear by another vehicle.

Parked Vehicle Collision: Where the vehicle is struck by another vehicle while it is lawfullyand safely parked on the roadway.

Major/Minor Road Intersection Collision: Where the vehicle is lawfully travelling on themajor road in its proper lane and is struck by another vehicle exiting the minor road.

Where loss or damage to the vehicle is as a result of Theft, attempted theft, Fire, Flood oran Act of God, and did not result from any recklessness on the part of the Insured.
