Why You Should Maintain Your Embroidery Machine From Day 1

1. Have your cleaning power supplies on hand – and use them.
• Your job: Thoroughly clean your machine once a month.
• The tech’s job: Get a tech to deep clean your machine once a year.

2. Clean the pantograph. Keep this area clean to reduce the risk of registration problems.• Your job: Clean the debris out every month.
• The tech’s job: Get a tech to inspect the pantograph once a year. The tech should repack all bearings every three to five years.

3. Inspect your knife area.
• Your job: Clean and inspect the area once a week.
• The tech’s job: Get a tech to check, and adjust if necessary, the knife blade level and pressure. The tech can replace blades as needed.

4. Maintain your tensioner assembly.
• Your job: Deep clean pre-tension disks every few months.
• Your job: Replace tension felt every few years.
• The tech’s job: Your tech can replace damaged check springs when needed and set tensions on them.
• The tech’s job: Your tech can inspect all check spring tensions.

5. Grease your machine.
• Your job: Read the manual and understand where to lubricate with grease.
• The tech’s job: Get your tech to inspect your machine for over-greasing and remove excess grease when needed.

6. Flush out your rotary hooks.
• Your job: Flush out the rotary hook areas every month or two.
