Election of your PTA officers is one of the most important re-sponsibilities that you have as the president in regards to your PTA. You should have already elected your Nominating Com-mittee, who will find nominees for your officers’ positions. If you have not elected your Nominating Committee, it is not too late to get that done now. Please read your bylaws that pertain to the Nominating Committee. It is their responsibility to find the best candidate for each office of your PTA.Please read “Article VI: Officers and Their Election.” This article will tell you when to elect your officers. Once your Nominating Committee has selected the candidates for your offices, as presi-dent, you must hold the election. Any card-bearing member has the right to run from the floor during the time that you are elect-ing your officers. It is very important that you elect your officers at this time in or-der to have them ready to take over your PTA on July 1. If for some reason you cannot find a person to fill one of the positions, please state that in your minutes. This will help the next Executive Board to be able to fill a vacancy in that particular position. If you have any concerns about how to do your election, call the 15th District PTA Office at 485-3535 or Sharon Whitworth, par-liamentarian, at 592-4185.
