Promotion Criteria

EXPRESS STREAM

Pass in English language

AND

Pass percentage in the average of all subjects

(at least 50 % overall)

A pupil who does not meet promotion criteria will be transferred to the

Sec 3 Normal (Academic) course.

Promotion Criteria

NORMAL ACADEMIC

Pass in English Language and 2 other subjects

OR Pass in 4 subjects

A pupil who does not meet promotion criteria will be retained in the Sec 2 Normal (Academic) course.

A pupil who attains 70% or higher on average for every subject at the end of Sec 1 or 2 (Normal Academic) may be transferred to the Express Course, if deemed able to cope with the demands of the Express course.

Autonomy is given to schools to assess the suitability of students for lateral transfers to a more academically demanding course.
