connected in 2006 in the most Seattle of ways. One year after both moved to the city (software engineer Jeffrey hails from Staten Island, his bride from Maine), they met over coffee at Bauhaus on Capitol Hill. Their fates were sealed, and married four years later in an intimate Gasworks Park ceremony on August 14, 2010. The couple, who now live on First Hill, brought New Orleans westward when they flew out jazz ensemble, Mama Digdown’s Brass Band, to play at their nuptials. “It all unfolded from the band,” says Tara, who works in microfinance. “Jeff went to college with the band members, and he knew from the moment we got engaged that they would be perfect for the wedding.” After the ceremony, the eight-piece horn band marched to a happy tune, jamming with Bing Crosby’s version of “When My Dreamboat Comes Home” as the couple led the raucous band and guests to the nearby reception at the ferry Skansonia. Traditional parasols (rented from Bella Umbrella) in tow, energized guests boogied a half mile down the Burke Gilman Trail while hordes of spectators rubbernecked: Cars stopped, people took pictures, a Ride the Ducks tour even paused to take a gander. Their exuberant, jamboree was captured in the hearts (and cameras) of many a Seattleite. Megan Phillips
