ABOUT GRAND RAPIDS BALLET
Celebrating the completion of its 40th anniversary season honoring the legacy of long-time supporter, Mrs. Betty Ford, Grand Rapids Ballet remains dedicated to fur-thering the art of dance. Under the artistic leadership of Patricia Barker since 2010, the organization has made an exciting transforma-tion that has attracted world-class dancers, produced some of the most creative works in contemporary dance, and generated local, national, and international attention. Grand Rapids Ballet presents numerous styles of dance from some of the fin-est choreographers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
“Black Swan White Swan was a bold and successful step in a new direction. Patricia Barker is taking the company from a little-known regional ballet company to one in the national spotlight.” – Steve Sucato, Dance Tabs
The Company, consisting of 24 professional dancers from the United States and around the world, rehears-es in its own Meijer-Royce Center for Dance and performs at GRB’s Peter Martin Wege Theatre, located in the heart of Grand Rapids. In March 2012, Grand Rapids Ballet launched MOVEMEDIA, a dance series com-prised of new works merging visual elements of sets, props, costumes, and lighting with digital technology and media to enhance the body in space.
