There are five types of word problems we will focus on

Mixture ProblemsCoin problemsInterest Rate problems

Distance problemsConsecutive integer problems

Your Assignment:

1. Under Blackboards “Discussion” tab, you will see five forums, one for each type of word problem.

2. Choose one type of word problem and join that group.

There will be five classroom presentations.

Each presentation will show the class how to solve one type of word problem.

No more than five students in any one group

DECIDE WHICH TEAM MEMBER WILL :1. EXPLAIN THE VOCABULARY INVOLVED WITH THE

TYPE OF PROBLEM2. CREATE A VISUAL REPRESENTATION THAT SHOWS

HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM3. TRANSLATE THAT VISUALIZATION INTO STANDARD

ALGEBRAIC TERMS 4. EITHER SHOW WHERE THAT PROBLEM MIGHT BE

USED, OR EXPLAIN ITS HISTORY5. WRITE EVERYTHING UP SO IT CAN BE PRESENTED
