Just Some Of My Life And Career Highlights

Page 2: Sean Wallace Career Highlights 2016

I began racing karts at the age of seven and my first sponsorship deal was at the age of ten with a local racing driver who owned a garage called Barton Motors.

Then during my late teens I attended Dunstable Business College .

However often during double free periods at college my road car would race to Silverstone, where I would clean cars and transporters and do odd jobs for the racing teams based there in order to

earn a drive in one of the teams racing cars.

I then began selling computers - travel in fact anything to finance my early racing career.

During my time in racing it enabled me to compete against many well known household names,

however it also introduced me to the world of travel and hospitality.

During 1991 I called time on my motor racing career and entered the world of Travel, Events, Hospitality

and a return to Motor Sport.

LOOKING FOR A FASTER WAY FORWARD

Phoenix Travel Limited

In 1999 I joined the 9th largest Independent business travel agency in the UK

TASK: Head up a sales team of four and a secretary, then take Phoenix into the top five independent travel agents in three years.

SOLUTION: Created a circle of confidence programme with my suppliers from my F&S time. This assisted me into being asked to tender for large accounts very quickly.

OUTCOME: Eighteen months later I took Phoenix into the top five with theacquisition of three major accounts and a number of smaller accounts.

My circle of confidence programme with LCC enabled us to retain our largest account Deutsche Bank with 52 travel staff looking after them for a further six years.

Landmark Wholesale supplier events

Task:

2 year program of entertaining the cream of Fast Moving Consumable Market places companies to Monte Carlo in Year 1 and New York year 2.

5 day event looking after the leading figures and there partners of the FMCG industry. 160 guests in all.

Solution:

With my team we created a dine around experience based on the Formula One racing teams for Monte Carlo. All staff dressed in racing team costumes which were auctioned at the end of the event for charity.

In New York I created a programme based upon the leading figures of America – Ford and Carnegie and arranged dinner in many different places that these very special historical people owned.

Both years gave us a budget of £1 million per year and were very well received, In fact Maritz enjoyed this business for a further two years after my departure.

Renault UK – Dealer Training

Task:

Maritz had to enrol, inspire, train and help Renault dealers to develop their operations and staff to welcome these demanding cash-rich, time poor executive buyers.

Solution:

Find a venue for 1200 dealership members – venue used was the NEC in Birmingham. My team won and then staged and managed an interactive event in the NEC.

My team had to define and communicate a new customer experience, while also training the dealers who were charged with delivering this to the end user.

Maritz also assisted in the recruiting and managing of a new field-based team of Brand Development Managers.

Page 13: Sean Wallace Career Highlights 2016

Task:

Create and establish a new pipeline of business and contacts from Europe – all business sectors.

Solution:

I created my circle of confidence campaign with fellow independent hotels across Europe. Bartering for information and appointments with the sales teams to give the Landmark Hotel a data-base of contacts. (There was nothing when I arrived with my PA from Phoenix Travel).

Outcome:

I was then able to establish a new European database of contacts and clients across twelve countries giving the hotel an increased market share from Europe.

This was achieved by creating a cross border selling strategy called my “Circle of Confidence” program utilizing other like minded independent properties that assisted us in both new business and European data-base collection and appointments.

Page 14: Sean Wallace Career Highlights 2016

Task:

Establish a new sales office in Barcelona for the Stein Hotel Group and then embark on taking the brand to the major luxury lifestyle buyers of Europe.

Solution:

Embark on a European road show taking the properties to the leading major leisure and business travel agents as well asbecoming part of the Leading Hotels of the World portfolio.

Outcome:

Two examples: Business arrived from Motor Sport. F1 Teams were testing in Spain that winter. Ferrari’s test driver Marc Gene liked La Florida so much he had his wedding reception there!

Winter months are often very quiet for hotels and some even close!

However after my road shows, three of our properties enjoyed new business from the medical market place as people recovered from major surgeries that had taken place in Switzerland and Germany.

Page 15: Sean Wallace Career Highlights 2016

I founded BP@ in 2005 and sold it in 2011.

Having first started my career in Motor Sport in the eighties, I recognized I could help my clients further by providing them with a more focused service…..which they could then use with for their clients and staff.

BP@’s marketing mix created something of a new service in the market place and gave me a platform to use my 26 years experience as a senior director in both Hotel, Business Travel & Incentive Travel sectors.

My extensive travel and lifestyle knowledge has given my clients products and services that now provide new communication stories as well as some stimulating account management.

“TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN February 2010

I have known Sean Wallace for over 15 years and during that time have had the pleasure of working with him in a travel and social capacity.

His experience in the travel industry is first-class and his knowledge is outstanding. One of the things that impressed me during many of the overseas trips we had spent together was the attention to detail and how nothing was left to chance.

Sean is a very likeable chap who is very personable and approachable and can handle people from all walks of life.

Sean would be an asset to any company and I would have no hesitation in recommending his services or working with him again.”

Kind regards
