What would we like to find out about our world – make a list of questions. Look back at questions in final assembly – Have we answered any of them? Each group to look at a different picture of a child – think about what that child’s life is like. How is he/she feeling? Where does he/she live? What about family? Compare think about similarities and differences to ourselves. Each group to share their child and their thoughts. Match up each child to their home.

Use resource pack 3 Ask the children the question “Where does all our stuff come from? Look at pictures and discuss which things were actually made in our county. Sort into 2 piles. Look at IWB file at answers and discuss. Look at pages following to identify which past of the world the stuff comes from – could guess first.

EXTENSION Children could also look at their own clothes and find the country that they were made – they don’t just come from PRIMARK or ASDA!

4 Refugees Use resource pack 4 and ‘refugees Voices’ Video What is a refugee? – discuss Watch first account from ‘Refugees Voices’ video – Giang’s story Does this answer the question? How is this girl feeling? What might it be like to be a refugee? Discuss. Look at statements – sort into 2 piles – TRUE/FALSE

5 Developing School vision to incorporate G.D.

Look at the school vision that we wrote a couple of years ago. Explain that we want to incorporate ‘that we learn about the wider world and respect it, in our vision. Reflect on all the work that we have done. We want to make a list of ‘rules’ for us and other visitors to follow. In our school we will… Ie. Be nice and friendly to all the people we meet, regardless of their colour or backround. We will respect our environment. We will recycle paper Try and save energy by turning off lights etc.

use each day/week.

She plays with her Nintendo Wii everyday after school.

Here favourite food in rice and noodles which she eats with chopsticks. She doesn’t always know where her father is.
