TWEED SEAGULLS FUTSAL CLUB OPENS IN MARCHExcitement builds as the opening date of the new Tweed Seagulls Futsal complex draws closer.

The Tweed Seagulls Club will be managed by the Viking Futsal Association, one of the largest stand-alone national Futsal bodies in the world.

Viking Futsal has operations in all states of Australia, affiliates and partners in nearly 70 countries worldwide and is the only Australian organisation recognised by EBF (Escola Brasileira De Futebol). Viking Futsal also stages the biggest Futsal tournament in the world – the Dal Ponte Pacific Schools titles with over 2,000 teams competing.

The seagulls complex will also feature a retail store carrying all the latest Futsal sportswear and merchandise to fit out players of every age.

Futsal or five-a-side Indoor Soccer is one of the fastest growing participation sports in Australia with

over 350,000 registered players and an annual growth rate of 28%. Brazil is the hub of Futsal and even superstars like Pele, Zico, Socrates and Ronaldao developed their skills and started their careers playing Futsal.

Futsal is a more social version of soccer and is a great sport for males and females of all ages. It is a high aerobic, low level contact sport. The game is played in two 20 minute halves and is an ideal workout for the time poor.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING NOTICE

Members and staff of norths group have rallied to assist the people and communities of Queensland affected by the recent devastating floods.

Members are helping to make a difference by donating their My Choice Rewards Points earned at the club between now and February 14. All points donated will be converted and sent to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Staff are also getting behind the efforts and provisions have been set up for staff members to make donations through their weekly pay packets.

Cash donations from members and visitors are also being collected at all of the clubs reception areas.

The norths group consists of over 50,000 members and nearly 200 staff and incorporates North Sydney Leagues Club at Cammeray, seagulls Club at Tweed Heads and norths Bowlo at North Sydney Oval. Hans Sarlemyn, norths Group CEO said “Our hearts go out to the people and communities of Queensland. So many people have lost everything. We just want to try and help in the best way we can and we believe that is through donating to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.”

All members and any residents or visitors in the Tweed Heads/Coolangatta area or on Sydney’s Lower North Shore or areas are invited to visit any of the venues to make donations.

Don’t forget you have until February 14 to make your donations either at the club or online at the various websites.

Cooly Rocks On is being billed as Australia’s “Hottest Rock ‘Roll” Nostalgia Festival displaying everything that is “Cool” about the 1950s and ‘60s.

The “Cooly Rocks On Festival” will run between June 3 and 13, 2011 in and around Coolangatta and Tweed Heads and seagulls is proud to announce it will be playing a major role as one of the prime indoor venues, hosting live bands and dancing throughout the event.

Organisers will give the Festival a fresh start, a new feel and a new look, presented, promoted and marketed as Australia’s “Hottest” Rock ‘N Roll Festival. It will attract a host of popular Rock ‘N Roll and Rockabilly Bands, Elvis impersonators and swing dancers, who will all perform at various venues and outdoor stages, coupled with Classic Cars and Hot Rods cruising the streets.

There are also plans to stage a Retro Surfing contest in conjunction with Surf World Museum at Currumbin, featuring surfboards of the 50s and 60s.

It will be a week-long “Happy Days Celebration” that attracts between 50,000 and 80,000 people into the region
