LILY-ANNE(reluctantly)

Just reading

JOHN ANWELLFor which topic? Are you still on property law?

LILLY-ANNENo i’m doing Criminal law reading now..

JOHN ANWELLAh that’s a shame i read an interesting case about asquatter in the paper last week, I wanted to know what

you thought of it

LILLY- ANNESquatting can actually come under criminal law, everyone believes that squatters have complete rightsbut obviously if they enter a property using force orviolence they can be convicted of a criminal offence.

JOHN ANWELLHm that’s interesting, apparently the owners of theproperty had to obtain a court order to remove thesquatters...from their own property?

LILL-ANNE

now completely involved in the conversation, for the first time she is not interested in her work.

Yes obviously squatters have to have some rights, otherwise people could just use violence to physicallythrow them out..

JOHN ANWELL

starts to speak but is cut off.yes and-

LILLY-ANNEno dad, if you try to forcibly remove them from yourhouse...even if it is your house YOU could get acriminal record

she laughsif you can’t persuade them, politely, to leave yourproperty then you have to get a court order.

DR MARTIN CROFTONjust what i thought! this week’s topic is drugs, i hopethe lectures inspired you, well not too literally! Asyou can see from the handout the main issue within druglaw is the golden question ’should we make certain

drugs LEGAL’ the old politicians were recently speakingabout it, of course they have nothing better to do! Anythoughts?

LILY-ANNEI think its right that drug users could face a prisonsentence..

Kat cuts in..

KAT PARSONSI know its cliche, but drugs are illegal for a reason, they’re harmful. keeping them illegal makes them taboo,
