JAMBO EVERYONE

I rsquom Nancy and my friends have all known that I donrsquot do the usual rest and relax trips for my holi-days Trekking and hiking through national parks are my passions Words and photos cant describe

fully how great it feels to embrace the nature the sun rays to enjoy the wind and not forgetting the breath-taking sceneries on top of the mountains It is simply a blessing

Last February 2014 I took on a step further to relate this with a good cause to support Voluntary Service Over-seas (VSO) on their fund raising for needy students in East Africa I am not alone there were other six like-minded Accenture folks across different offices who took up this challenge as well Together we managed to raise

funds totalling up to pound20000 and to reach the Uhuru Peak (5895 meters) of Mt Kilimanjaro East Africa

During this trip we have seen how the first hand effects on all the donations with VSO We have visited a Teach-ers college in Marangu village to understand how VSO trainers improves the quality of education for the local primary and secondary children As part of their curricu-lum they learn English and takes up computer lessons to enrich their knowledge I cant tell you how I had beamed with happiness when playing with them The children are just bursting with energy and pure joy

This had been the most memorable experience where all seven of us have successfully ascended Mt Kilimanjaro the highest free standing mountain in the world to Uhu-ru peak Every step in sync with the same heartbeat we have succeed Yes we can Yes we did Our trip lasted 12 days and the team held on strong with great faith and determination Hakuna matata Each day was spent on culminating walks and braving through continuous driz-zles and winds It had been an amazing journey of will-power and endurance with culminating climbs to the summit that lasted 12 hours

Asante-sana Although a year had past I want to sin-cerely thank everyone that have participated in my char-ity challenge and helped me make it to the top

A charity cause and a personal trekking challenge

What if you become a superhero one fine morning

Irsquod scare the daylights out of my son as we would be dressed in the same thing (he wears superman pyjamas to bed)

What if someone gifts you a beer vending machine and the pow-er chord is missing

Irsquod cry then Irsquod tip it upside down shake in and dry drinking the beer directly

What if you accidently sing your fa-vorite song and then you realize you were not in mute in a call

People would be wondering why Adam Levine just joined the call and sounded so good

What if you enter a movie hall with your family for your anniver-sary and then you realize that the movie was dubbed in Somali

Irsquod have to laugh shrug and go watch it anyway

What if I was not working in Accenture because I was too rich

I would spend 6 months of the year being a ski instructor in Switzerland (Bendz ze knees) and 6 months playing golf somewhere
