• (16) 2 7/8" squares• (16) 2 1/2" squares

From fabric I (SUEM 300 LZ), cut:• (2) 2 1/4" x wof strips; cut into (25) 2 1/4" squares

Basket Block Assembly1. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of each fabric I square. Layer a markedsquare right sides together with a fabric F square;stitch 1/4” on each side of the drawn diagonal line.Cut the squares apart on the line to make two half-square-triangle units. Make a total of 50 small units.

2. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of each fabric D square. Layer a markedsquare right sides together with a fabric G 7 7/8"square; stitch 1/4" on each side of the drawn diagonalline. Cut the squares apart on the line to make twohalf-square-triangle units. Make a total of five largeunits. (You’ll have six total; one is extra.)

3. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of each fabric C square. Place a markedsquare on one corner of a fabric H 6 7/8" square, withright sides together and raw edges aligned. Stitchdirectly on the marked line. Trim the excess cornerfabric, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Press the seamallowances toward the resulting triangle. Make five.Using a ruler and rotary cutter, cut each square on thediagonal to yield five triangle units and five reversedtriangle units.

4. Join ten small half-square-triangle units, one largehalf-square-triangle unit, and one fabric F 1 7/8" squareto make a basket unit as shown. Make five of these units.

5. Join fabric H triangles to the top of each basketunit. Then join a triangle unit and a reverse triangleunit to the base of each basket unit as shown in thephoto to complete the block. Make five Basket blocks. The blocks should measure 12 7/8" square.

Chain Block Assembly6. Join two fabric E 1 3/4" squares and two fabric F1 3/4" squares to make a four-patch unit. Trim theunit to measure 2 7/8" x 2 7/8". Repeat to make a totalof 32 units.

7. Referring to the photo for placement guidance; joinfour units from step 6, four fabric H 2 7/8" squares, andone fabric G 2 7/8" square to make a nine-patch unit.Make four units total.

8. Join four units from step 6, four fabric B rectangles, and one unit from step 7 as shown in the photo tocomplete the block. Make four Chain blocks. Theblocks should measure 12 1/2" square.

Corner Block Assembly9. Join two fabric E 1 1/2" squares and two fabric F1 1/2" squares to make a four-patch unit. The unitshould measure 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". Repeat to make a totalof 16 units.

10. Referring to the photo for placement guidance;join four units from step 9, four fabric H 2 1/2"squares, and one fabric G 2 1/2" square to make a nine-patch Corner block. Make four Corner blocks. Theblocks should measure 6 1/2" square.

Quilt Assembly11. Referring to the photo for placement guidance, jointhe Basket blocks and Chain blocks in three rows ofthree blocks each. The quilt center should measure36 1/2" square.

12. Sew a fabric A 36 1/2"-long inner-border strip toopposite sides of the quilt top. Sew fabric F 2 1/2"squares to the ends of the two remaining fabric Ainner-border strips. Sew these strips to the top andbottom edges of the quilt center. The quilt top shouldmeasure 40 1/2" square.

13. Sew a fabric B 40 1/2"-long middle-border strip toopposite sides of the quilt top. Sew the Corner blocksto the ends of the two remaining fabric B middle-border strips. Sew these strips to the top and bottomedges of the quilt center. The quilt top should measure52 1/2" square.

14. Join the fabric B 2 1/2"-wide outer-border stripsend to end to make a long strip. From the pieced strip, cut four 52 1/2"-long strips. Sew a strip to oppositesides of the quilt top. Sew fabric F 2 1/2" squares to theends of the two remaining strips. Sew these strips tothe top and bottom edges of the quilt top to completethe outer border.

15. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing; baste.Quilt as desired. Using the fabric A 2 1/2"-wide bindingstrips, bind the edges to finish.
