ISD’s strategy for developing a Secondary Uses Service for NHS Scotland:

•Develop smarter, more efficient, secure and user-friendly ways of delivering information intelligence

•Maximising IT development opportunities.

•Provide a proactive support service - experienced ISD analysts assist the NHS to make best use of the information available.

• Supports quality improvement and the review, monitoring & planning of healthcare services.

• Available to healthcare staff based in NHS Boards, CHPs, Hospitals and GP practices.

• Early stage of development – piloted with NHS Lothian and Fife during September 2007.
