Community Maintenance Update From Eric HampsonHello fellow community members! Fall clean up work is complete along with some much needed tree trimming. It’s been a busy couple of months and I am looking forward to taking advantage of this time to continue work on our plans for the Westview overlook as well as getting estimates for repairs to the Eastview stairs. I will be reporting on these projects as they develop. I am also looking towards the Spring and possibly getting a committee together for beautification. Thank you to all of the board members, past and present, and all of our neighbors who help with maintaining our Community!

Proposed Zip Code Change This project has been revived! Thanks to renewed interest and support by the community a formal letter and supporting documents were formally presented to the postmaster of Miller Place in December. This request was then forwarded to the postmaster general and we are currently awaiting a response. The community will be updated at the next monthly meeting as to the status of changing our zip code from 11789 to 11764.

Roads and Drains UpdateFrom John TurzaI would like to wish all Scott’s Beach members a Happy New Year. In the fall we had some large potholes repaired. We also installed curbing in several areas throughout the community. With the snow season upon us, I would like to remind all residents to keep all vehicles off roadways to allow the plow company to navigate throughout the community.

Thank You, Roads

When My Son First Met Santa

My Trip To Africa My name is Jake Knoth ( 8th grade ) and I wanted to write about my first trip outside of the USA. I joined my family on a medical conference to Tanzania Africa in the fall of 2019. I had no idea about what to expect. I went on a Safari and got to see lions, wildebeest, elephants, leopards, black rhinos, giraffes and so many beautiful birds, trees, flowers and more. My favorite part of trip was visiting a remote African Maasai tribe. I learned about how different their way of life was from mine. They depended on their land for farming and hunting but also had to travel to find fresh water. I also realized they had similarities with me too. The children in the tribe loved to play with their sisters, brothers and family like I do, had chores, and attended school as well. This is a picture of me in the Maasai tribe school. I hope to travel more when I get older.

My son Tyler met Santa for the first time this past Christmas at St. Louis DeMontfort Church where he attends preschool. Santa dropped by to say hi to everyone whilst in the middle of getting all of his last minute errands done before Christmas eve. The sheer surprise, magic and love on not just Tyler's face but on all of the little kiddie's faces was just so heart warming and truly brought back the MAGIC of Christmas to me!!! I just felt I needed to share this. I am so glad I moved my family back here. After that experience I now know it was the best decision for all of us!

We are looking for volunteers for our

Community Maintenance Committee!

Happy New Year to all! To date, the board members have worked hard to keep our community safe and beautiful while keeping expenses under control. Hard as it is to believe, the fiscal year is already half over and we’ll soon be starting the budget process for next year.

I would like to thank all who have paid their dues, about 98%! It is important to keep in mind that dues are necessary to pay for the maintenance of our very special community.

Gatekeeping and the BeachGates have been functioning well and are due for a few technical upgrades which we will be attending to shortly. Please be reminded that in the event of snow, we do put the gates up to allow the plows better access.

Additional key fobs have been ordered and will be available soon.

Please be careful when you approach the gates,

don’t just roll through. Bent gates cost hundreds of dollars to replace, and we have license plate readers in place. Remember, if you break it, you buy it!

If you have any issues with the gates, or need a new key fob, please contact me via the email : [email protected]

Thanks, Roy Zeidman

An Update From Roy Zeidman…

Please use caution when driving throughout our community!

We have many children in the area, as well as neighbors walking dogs!

Please adhere to the speed limit and be sure to pass through the gates one car at a time… “piggy backing” is not safe and results in damage to the gate arms!

THANK YOU!
