Based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's Oni Press comic book of the same name, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World follows the eponymous slacker rocker on his colorful quest to defeat his dream girl's seven evil ex-boyfriends. Twenty-two-year-old Scott Pilgrim may not have a job, but rocking the bass for his band, Sex Bob-omb, is a tough job unto itself. When Scott locks eyes with Ramona Flowers, he knows she's the girl he wants to grow old with. But Ramona has some serious baggage; her supercharged exes rue the thought of her being with another man, and they'll crush any guy who gives her a second glance. Now, in order to win Ramona's heart, Scott will do battle with everyone from vegan-powered rock gods to sinister skateboarders, never losing sight of his gorgeous goal as he pummels his way to victory.

This review was written by Peter Bradshaw. He referred to the movie as an ‘entertaining hyperactive gamer-geek comedy’ and gave a fairly good review with very little criticism. His only criticism was that he thought ‘[Edgar] Wright could have afforded to relax a little more, to take his foot off the pastiche-pedal and give his comedy more breathing space’ but apart from that he had nothing more bad to say and finished off by saying it was an ‘exhilarating demonstration of film-making IQ’.

This review was written by David Sexton who didn’t really feel the movie. He starts by mocking the watchers of the movie by calling them kids ‘There are a lot of kids out there – who knows, some of them still under 30 themselves? – Who are going to love this film so much they’ll see it over and over’. The only nice thing I think David has to say is ‘Wright has made the film so kinetic, such a bundle of tricks and gags, that you’re rushed and

charmed right up until the final bashing’. He finishes off by saying that ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. the world works – like a dream, in fact the winning dream of ever loser’, even if he did think at times it reverted to standard CGI and the whacking of light sabers goes on for far to long!

This review was written by Jonathan Crocker and despite giving the movie a fairly high rating opens his review with critism stating the movie has a ‘lack of story’ is ‘a little too repetitive’ and ‘a little too long’. I think Jonathan thinks the thing that makes to movie is the cast saying the cast ‘beef up’ the movie. Despite all the negative comments at the start he ends his review saying that ‘This could be the movie that persuades major studios to trust Wright with a lot more pocket money. He’s proved he has the

ability to tap the pulse of a major pop-subculture.
