Participated in the Siege of Petersburg
At the Battle of Kell House, VA [Oct. 27 – 28 , 1864] the 29th CVI drove Confederate troops from their defensive works with a loss of 80 men.
William Burton was killed in action. Nearly all other Scotland enlistees were wounded.
The 29th CVI was the first Union Infantry unit to enter Richmond.
