Send letters to credit bureaus – they have up to 30 days to respond – not the quickest method, we use this method when we are just finishing up on a client and there is no rush.

“Item In Dispute” Continued

Items needed for Phone Calls

a. It is best if you know what accounts have the notation “item in dispute” on it, that way when your client is talking to the person helping you at the credit bureau they can just give them the information and not chance the agent missing one. They will do it while you are on the phone but I would have your client call back in 24-48 hours to make sure there are no longer any accounts with the notation before they have their loan officer re-pull the credit report.

b. TransUnion - will not allow you to do a conference call, so what I do is give my client all the information they are going to need prior to doing the call then I make the phone call and when the customer service representative gets on the phone I tell them what we are doing and they always say, “we can not speak to you” so I tell them I understand I just wanted to make sure that my client got to the right department and then I hang up.

c. Experian - will talk to the client with me on the line and I can ask questions but they will answer the question addressing the client not me. I also always call the 714 number and ask to speak to a special services person, they are always very nice to me.

d. Equifax – They will talk with your client while you are on the phone also, they ask for the report number but will do the removals with the social security number.
