PRODUCT DATA SHEET SCOFIELD® Cureseal 100 A 100 VOC COMPLIANT SOLVENT-BORNE, CLEAR CURING COMPOUND AND ABRASION RESISTANT SEALER FOR FRESHLY PLACED INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR CONCRETE SURFACES. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SCOFIELD® Cureseal 100 is a solvent based liquid membrane-forming curing compound that reduce moisture loss and seals surfaces with an abrasion and stain resistant coating. Used during concrete placement, it reduces surface cracks and color variations caused by uneven drying and efflorescence that commonly occurs in warm, windy, or dry environments. Use on existing concrete to add an abrasion and stain resistant barrier that effectively seals, dustproofs, and prevents staining from common foods and chemicals. When concrete is freshly placed, shaded areas or areas in the center of large slabs surface dry slower than those exposed to sunlight or closer to form edges. This uneven drying, along with common efflorescence, often causes color variations that are obvious. These differences are long lasting, and raise questions about the quality of the concrete placement. SCOFIELD® Cureseal 100 works to eliminate these problems and enables contractors to immediately deliver jobs that are uniform in color and appearance. USES As a concrete curing compound to reduce spider cracking and efflorescence. Ideal for food courts, pools, entry and walkways. Abrasion resistant topcoat over stains, and dyes. Seals in color of antiquing stamp releases and stains. Prevents dusting of new or aging concrete. CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES Non-yellowing resin system delivers superior stain, abrasion, and chemical resistance. Exterior durable and UV light stable. Apply by brush, roller, or spray. Easily accepts traction additives. APPROVALS / STANDARDS Complies with ASTM C 1315, Type 1, Class A, B, and C; AASHTO Des. M-148-82; Federal Specification TT-C-0800; ASTM C 309; and DE CRD–C-300. A.I.M. Category: Curing and Sealing Compound, maximum VOC 100 g/L (0.8 lb/gal). PRODUCT INFORMATION Chemical Base 100% Acrylic polymer blend in a fast drying solvent blend, 25% solids. Packaging 1-gallon (3.8L) cans or 5-gallon (18.9L) pails. Shelf Life 2 years from the date of manufacture. Storage Conditions Store in the tightly closed original containers below 140°F (60°C). APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSIf using spray equipment, always wear protectiverespirator, and mask adjacent areas to protect propertyfrom overspray. Dried material will be difficult toremove. Remove overspray immediately with aromaticsolvent followed by soap and water. Do not thin withnon-exempt solvents. Warning: Any electrical equipment used must beexplosion proof or otherwise designed specifically foruse with solvent-based products. Remove all openflames, pilot lights, sparking equipment, or other sourcesof ignition from the area prior to opening or mixing. Onlyuse in well ventilated areas. Coverage RatesCoverage will vary depending on the porosity andtexture of the surface, surface preparation, andapplication technique. Typical coverage rate is 300–500ft2 per gallon (7.3 - 12.3 m2/l). EquipmentApply by brush, roller, HVLP, airless, or pump-sprayapplication followed by back rolling to spread material. All equipment must be acetone solvent resistant. Alwayswear protective clothing and equipment proper for themethod of application. If using a roller, use a quality 3/8"knap with tapered edges. Spray applicator Guidelines:Pump Garden Sprayer: Use conical tip.Airless spray: 1500–2500 psi (10–17 MPa) fitted with afan tip of 0.013–0.018 inches (0.33–0.46 mm).HVLP spray: 5–40 psi (35–275 kPa)

APPLICATION

When used as a Curing CompoundApply SCOFIELD® Cureseal 100 when concrete iswalkable and all bleed water has either reabsorbed intothe concrete or evaporated. When used as a Sealer or Dust Proofer When used on fully cured concrete, surfaces must be dryand clean of all prior sealers, curing compound, oils, orother foreign materials that might prevent penetrationor adhesion, and meet a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP)of 1, as determined by the International Concrete RepairInstitute, (ICRI) , Alexandria, VA. Grind, acid etch, powerwash, or scrub surfaces with stiff bristle brushes andstrong detergents to remove these undesired materialsand any loose concrete laitance that may harmadhesion. Always rinse older concrete surfaces and allowthem to completely dry prior to application. If used over solvent based stain, stain should be allowedto cure a minimum of 12 hours to allow solvents toevaporate.

MixingSettling of the Matte version is normal. Mix until it isuniform consistency and appearance prior to use. Jobsite Test SectionsVerify and approve suitability and appearance by makingjobsite test sections prior to general application. Eachindividual concrete color, finishing technique, and sealercombination should be verified. Test sections must be ofadequate size to be representative and be produced bythe same workers who will apply product to the largerjob. Test completed systems for wet and dry slipresistance to ensure they are safe. Do not proceed withproducts, techniques, or finishing systems that do notmeet required safety specifications or site ownerapproval. ApplicationApply when concrete and air temperatures are between40°F and 80°F (4.4°- 26.7°C), rising, and will not fallbelow 40°F (4.4°C) for the next 6 hours. Mask all areas not to be coated to safeguard againstsplashes, overspray, and runoff from application. Wearall required safety equipment. Take care not to allowtape adhesive to interfere with surfaces to be coated. Distribute product with a pump garden sprayer fittedwith a conical tip, followed by back rolling with a quality3/8" knap roller. Roll in multiple directions to ensureproduct penetrates into concrete cracks, joints, andpores. Take care not to create lap marks as they cannotbe removed once the product has dried. Dry times will depend upon the selected coverage rate, penetration into the substrate, and weather conditions. At 70°F (21°C) and 50 % relative humidity with anapplication rate of 400 sq. ft. per gallon (10 m2/L), dry totouch and recoat times of 1–2 hours are expected. Avoidfoot-traffic for 8-12 hours after final application. Cleaning of EquipmentClean equipment with aromatic solvent following thesolvent manufacturer's safety instructions.
