P A R I S H C A L E N D A R MASS INTENTIONS
On the day of our Baptism, the Priest or the
Deacon poured holy water on our heads
saying: I baptize you in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit. We have been baptized in the name of
the Most Holy Trinity. Baptism is God’s most
beautiful and magnificent gift for us. Baptism
seals us with the indelible spiritual seal of our
belonging to God. This seal is indelible
because it can never be erased even by the
most terrible sin. Baptism is the gateway to
heaven through which we enter and
participate in the divine life of God who is
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
If you attend a Catholic funeral liturgy, you
also see that at the beginning of the liturgy,
the Holy Water is sprinkled on the body of the
deceased. This act recalls the pouring of water
in the baptismal celebration. So for a
Christian, from the very beginning of life to
the very end, from the moment of Baptism to
the moment of death, we belong to the Holy
Trinity who is the source and origin of life.
We are baptized in the name of God who is
Love and so we must be the sign of God’s love
to the world. We are called to be the salt of
the earth and light of the world, bringing the
light of God’s love to others.
Sometimes we fail to do so. We fail to
love. We fail to care for one another. We fail
to recognize the human dignity of the other.
We fail to recognize that we are all brothers
and sisters in the family of God. We need to
ask ourselves: with so many Christians in our
society, why are we so divided? Why does the
darkness of hatred and violence cover the
world? Saint John Paul II once said:
“Darkness can only be scattered by light.
Hatred can only be conquered by love.”
We have been baptized in the name of God
who is Love. Let us live out our baptismal
mission of spreading that love to one another.
Because God so loved the world that He sent
us His Only Son, so also we are sent by Him
into the world to the sign of His love.
Reflection by Fr. Vincent
We are ac vely seeking to rebuild The Hospitality Commi ee with new members since most of the exis ng commi ee have re red.
The Hospitality Committee provides opportunities for the St. Ann Parish family to join in our celebration of special occasions in a variety of social settings, fostering a greater sense of community.
Committee members coordinate, plan, and implement social functions (receptions, appreciation dinners, etc.).
Our next event is Fr. Vincent's Farewell Reception on June 6th following the 11:00 AM Mass.
If you are interested, please complete the form on our website https://stannchurchandshrine.org/hospitality-committee or contact Debbie in the parish Office 504-455-7071 ext 2221.
We look forward to working with you to make some great St. Ann memories!
The Cate-Corner Here’s another jewel from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Seated at the right hand of the Father" and pouring out the Holy Spirit on his Body which is the Church, Christ now acts through the sacraments he instituted to communicate his grace. The sacraments are perceptible signs (words and actions) accessible to our human nature. By the action of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit they make present efficaciously the grace that they signify. CCC 1084)
