ATP Hygiene Monitoring UltraSnap and AquaSnap – ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is found in organic matter from all living

organisms and monitoring its levels on surfaces and in liquids is an ideal indicator of overall hygiene.

After cleaning or treating, all sources of ATP should be significantly reduced. When ATP is brought into

contact with the unique liquid-stable chemistry in the UltraSnap or AquaSnap testing device, light is

emitted in direct proportion to the amount of ATP present. EnSURE measures the amount of light

generated and provides instant feedback on the level on contamination.

Allergen Prevention and High Sensitivity SuperSnap is the most sensitive ATP test device. It is used where the highest standards of cleanliness are

required. Used in support of allergen control programs to verify the efficacy of cleaning procedures and

the removal of product residues that may contain potential allergenic material. It will detect product

residues down to 1 – 1000 ppm which is similar to the detection capabilities of specific allergen tests.

These swabs are not affected by 1000 ppm Hypochlorite and are 5 times more resistant to acid and 10

    times more resistant to alkali.

Pathogen Detection The Micro-Snaps are a rapid test for enumeration of Coliforms, E.coli, and Total Plate Count. The 2 step

test uses a novel bioluminogenic test reaction that generates light when enzymes that are characteristic

of specific bacteria react with specialized substrates to produce light. The light generating signal is then

quantified in the EnSURE meter. Results are available in under 7 hours depending on required level of

sensitivity. Single figure organisms can be detected in 7 hours enabling Micro-Snap to give results in the

same working day or shift. **See next 2 pages for pricing**

Rapid Total Plate Count Environmental/Product/Liquid Tests

This rapid bioluminogenic test provides detection and enumeration of total population of bacteria or total

contamination in a sample (down to 1 CFU), providing results in 7 hours. MicroSnap TOTAL consists of an

Enrichment Swab Device containing proprietary growth medium and a Detection Device containing

bioluminogenic reagents in which biomarkers produced by bacteria are measured using a small portable

luminometer. The two step test procedure requires a short incubation period to enhance the growth of

bacteria followed by the detection step. During incubation in the Enrichment broth, the number of bacteria

is increased and potential sample interference is reduced. As the bacteria grow they use up their available

food resources in the broth and generate enzymatic biomarkers, such that the greater the number of

bacteria, the higher the biomarker concentration after a set time interval. Subsequently, the biomarker

produced by living and growing bacteria is measured using a luminometer. The light output is directly

proportional to the concentration of biomarkers and number of bacteria present. A relationship between

biomarker concentration at a specific point and starting numbers of mixed bacteria can be established.

MicroSnap TOTAL can be used to test environmental surfaces, foodstuff, water and other filterable liquids.

The light generating signal is then quantified in our SystemSure Plus or EnSURE Luminometer. Only the

EnSURE meter will be AOAC approved.

Features & Benefits: • 100 swabs per case • Self-contained devices provide ease of use • Unique liquid-stable reagent provides high sensitivity and repeatability • Uses proven conventional diagnostic properties • Independent of sample effects • No special sample preparation required • 2 step procedure • Simple pass/fail result at desired specification • Quantitative result by kinetic measurement • Results obtained within 7 hours • Equivalent results to other cultural methods • Low level detection (1 organism) • Repeat testing on same enrichment sample • Faster quality assurance response and product release.

    Microbial DipSlides

These Microbial Dipslides were developed to provide an inexpensive, fast and simple method for detecting

microbial contamination in suspect liquids. Our Dipslides are double sided, enabling simultaneous

examination of test specimens with two different selective media.

For Coliforms, Salmonella & Shigella PLUS Total Plate Count Double sided – MacConkey Agar/Nutrient Agar with TTC - Part#: SB-MC100 (10 slides/box) A more selective modification of MacConkey medium which is suitable

for the detection and enumeration of Coliform organisms and also for

the detection and isolation of Salmonella and Shigella species occurring

in pathological and food specimens. Due to the inclusion of a specially

prepared fraction of bile salts in addition to crystal violet, the medium

give improved differentiation between Coliforms and non-lactose

fermenting organisms whilst Gram-positive cocci are completely

inhibited. The other side contains Nutrient Agar with TTC – see

    description under General Purpose Agar.

For Yeast and Mould PLUS Total Plate Count Double Sided – Malt Extract Agar/Nutrient Agar with TTC – Part#: SB-MC600 (10 slides/box) This medium is recommended for the detection, isolation and enumeration of yeasts and moulds. For

mycological counts it may be desirable to prepare the more acid medium in order to suppress bacterial

growth. The other side contains Nutrient Agar with TTC – see description under General Purpose Agar.

Double Sided – Rose Bengal Agar/Nutrient Agar with TTC – Part#: SB-MC800 (10 slides/box) Rose-Bengal Chloramphenicol Agar is a selective medium for the

enumeration of yeasts and moulds from a wide variety of foodstuffs. The

medium has a neutral pH and chloramphenicol is used as a selective agent

to suppress the growth of bacteria. Several investigators have noted

advantages in the use of media at neutral pH containing antibiotics. Rose-

Bengal is taken up by mould and yeast colonies thereby assisting

enumeration of small colonies. Rose-Bengal also controls the size and

height of mould colonies, such as Neurospora and Rhizopus app. Over-

growth of slow growing strains by more luxuriant species is thus

prevented and plate counting is assisted. The other side contains Nutrient Agar with TTC – see description

    under General Purpose Agar.

General Purpose Agar for Total Plate Count Double sides – Nutrient Agar with TTC (Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride) Part#: SB-MC660 (10 slides/box)

A general purpose Agar medium, containing two peptones, will support the growth of a wide variety of

organisms. It is suitable for the cultivation both of aerobes and anaerobes, the latter being grown either in

deep cultures or by incubation under anaerobic conditions. A small quantity of dye 2,3,5-

triphenyltetrazolium (TTC) is added. Aerobic bacteria species grow on this medium and they can be

detected by their ability to reduce TTC to a red colored formozan dye. Bacterial colonies appear as red dots

on the otherwise clear colorless medium.

    Part Number Description Price (CAD$)

Water Activity Meter Water Activity meters measure the relative humidity which is reached at equilibrium in a

sealed container. It is the value measured when no net exchange of moisture between the product and the

sealed environment can take place. A full equilibration measurement can take up to 40 minutes and the

meters will automatically detect when equilibrium is reached.

Originally designed for government inspectors, the 4-inch PaWkit is a reliable water activity instrument for

use on-the-go. To make a measurement, flip back the sensor cover and fit the PaWkit over a standard

AquaLab sample cup. A push of a button brings an accurate reading within five minutes.

Pawkit owners include government inspectors, jerky manufacturers, small food companies, and production-

line QA managers, among others. The Pawkit is accurate to ± 0.02 aw , so it can only be used where a higher

    accuracy is not critical.

Reasons for using the Pawkit: • Most affordable water activity instrument on the market.

    • Spot checks and inspections away from the lab.

    • Ease of use

    • Portability

    Brix/Sugar Refractometer

This digital refractometer is an optical instrument that employs the measurement of refractive index to

determine the % Brix of sugar (MA871) in aqueous solutions.

The method is both simple and quick. Samples are measured after a simple user calibration with deionized

or distilled water. Within seconds the instruments measure the refractive index of the sample and convert it

to % Brix or % by weight concentration units.

The digital refractometers eliminate the uncertainty associated with mechanical refractometers and are

easily portable for measurements in the field.

The measurement technique and temperature compensation employ methodology recommended in the

ICUMSA Methods Book (Internationally recognized body for Sugar Analysis). Temperature (in °C or °F) is

displayed simultaneously with the measurement on the large dual level display along with icons for Low

Power and other helpful message codes.

Key features include: • Dual-level LCD

    • Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC)

Light Meter This portable Light Meter is designed to perform light measurements. With a Faster Micro Processor, this

device has a small, ergonomic and light case design. Other features include a large and easy to read LED

    Display and long battery life.

This handy and ergonomically designed portable meter is ideal for anyone working on a low budget and still

    requires fast and reliable measurements.

The portable design is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as Food, Agriculture and Horticulture,

as well as water and environmental analysis. The unit is supplied with a light sensor connected to the meter

that measures from 0 to 50000 Lux.

Average indoor lighting ranges from 100 to 1000 Lux and average outdoor sun lights about 50000 Lux. Lux

is a unit that indicates the density of light that falls on a surface.

The light is necessary for the development of the plants. In fact, it is necessary a sufficient contribution of

light in order to favor the photosynthesis and the closing of the plants. The supplement of light by means of

lamps electrical workers is the method simpler and economic in order to bring the necessary light to the

    plants.

The human eye is sensitive only to blue, green, and red light, so in calculating the Lux falling on an object,

only the light that the human eye sees is counted. When only infrared light falls on an object, the Lux is

counted as zero since our eyes see nothing. Mathematically, a spectral weighting function becomes

convolved with the actual illumination spectrum to calculate Lux exactly.

This is the formal definition of Lux and it makes Lux an unusual unit of measure.

Still, Lux can be thought of as a way of measuring light in terms of what our eyes perceive. This is the metric

unit of measure for luminance of a surface. One Lux is equal to one Lumen per square meter.

One Lux equals 0.0929 foot candles.
