Shadowing a Surgeon
Dr. Jethwa➢ Neurosurgeon and Physician at
the Jersey Shore Medical Center
➢ Focuses primarily on the brain
and spinal cord
➢ NA Alum Class of ‘98
What I Did➢ Watched surgeries like
aneurysm repairs and

What is Identifor? It is a company founded by Cuong Do and Lori Rickles to develop a better way to address the needs of children and adults on the autism spectrum. It has two parts: the companion app and the identifor games app.
Abby - Companion App Abby is an artificial intelligence avatar who can assist the user with any questions that can be challenging in everyday life.
Unified Platform
Prototyping a gameIn order to present an idea for a game to be made for the identifor website, first a prototype version must be made.
I used java in order to create a concept for a logic game.
Coding the Game
Brick Breaker Game
Connect Four Game
Artificial Intelligence - A Time Problem
➢ Goal: Determine the best move to play
➢ Problem: Over 4.5 trillion possible
board positions
○ Analysing all ways the game
could go is impossible
A Human Approach
➢ How do people play Connect-4 well?
○ Humans look at ways the game is
likely to go
Example: Red to Play
Human Thinking ProcessExample: Red to Play
How to make Computers think like Humans➢ How can a computer think like this?
○ Monte Carlo Tree Search
○ Randomized Play Outs determine likely candidate moves

Multifunctional Reactive Electrochemical
Membrane(REM) Filtration of Organic Dye Removal
By Tyler Kung
Background•Emerging water contaminants in natural waters such as rivers/groundwater aquifers are a widespread problem•Caused by the release of chemical residuals, surface runoffs, and untreated wastewater. •Issues–Resistant to degradation –Highly soluble –Difficult to treat–Harm Human Health
Problem Statement
•Can we use batch/continuous REM filtration membranes with electrochemistry to remove organic pollutants from water sources?•What types of organic pollutants are most successfully degraded by REM filtration and electrochemistry?
Significance•Dyes negatively impact the environment because more than 10–15% of synthetic dyes produced are lost as effluent and pose a major threat to the health of ecosystem.•Dyes can cause severe damage to human beings- dysfunction of kidney, reproductive system, liver, brain and central nervous system.2
•dyes upset the biological activity in water bodies. •Dye-contaminated water is usually chemically stable, non-biodegradable, and potentially carcinogenic.5 •Furthermore, dyes inhibit photosynthesis because they reduce light penetration.
Conventional Treatments
•activated carbon adsorption,
•chemical oxidation,
•reverse osmosis and ion exchange.
• anaerobic treatment
•trickling filters
•flotations
•chemical coagulation
•membrane separation,
•advanced operation processes
Specific Objectives•to investigate the potential for multifunctional reactive electrochemical membrane (REM) Filtration of Organic dye removal using electrochemistry. •Investigate the degradation rates using 2 methods: Batch and Continuous Flow•Experiment with the Optimal Current density
EAOP● Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Process● Utilizes hydroxyl radicals to oxidize hazardous contaminants driven by
electricity●
REM
•has high removal efficiency .•Has a long lifetime and high resistance toward chemical or mechanical stresses.•REM proactively removes surface foulants on membrane filter surfaces. •Ceramic Membrane Filtration
Batch Reaction
Continuous Flow
Experimental Design and Methods
Results- General
•Both the Batch Reaction and Continuous Flow were effective in degrading all three dyes•DC Filtration- all 3 of the samples turned clear
Results- MB•MB concentration 5.12 ppm -> 3.33 ppm in 60 minutes with 12.53
mA∙cm-2 current density
•and from 5 ppm to 0.118 ppm in the same time with 25.3 mA∙cm-2
current density
Results- RB•RB (Batch) concentration 5.049 ppm ->1.914 ppm with lower current density 5.339 ppm -> 0.152 ppm with higher current density.
Results -Orange II•dark orange -> clear color. (continuous)•54%/78% degradation rate for 500 mA Trial 1/Trial 2 respectively•84% degradation rate for 250 mA •14% degradation rate for 100 mA
Conclusion
•Ti4O7REM under direct current was demonstrated to be highly
effective for the degradation of organic dye in aqueous solution.•For every dye, both methods worked successfully at degrading the dye.
•Ti4O7REM appears as a valuable treatment for purifying and
reusing colored aqueous effluents.
