1/ Policy goal: U.S. R&D / GDP ratio of 3 percent. – Recovery Act – Double the budgets of three key science agencies: NSF, DOE Science, NIST – Make the R&E Tax Credit permanent2/ The U.S. is committed to a clean energy future. Goal: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80+% by 2050. – $150 billion over 10 years for clean energy technologies. – ARPA-E opens its doors.3/ “We are restoring science to its rightful place.” – OSTP will lead an interagency process to develop a scientific integrity policy through an

open, collaborative process.4/ “We also need to engage the scientific community directly in the work of public policy.” – President Obama names the members of his PCAST. – The Administration is ramping up its commitment to international S&T cooperation.
