The visa’s must be done online before arrival. It is simple, just go onto this website and check if you need a visa https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/from the information I have, it looks like there are only two visa’s needed, UK and Canada.

• Parents will drop off and pick up their child at the airport!

• Please bring your child to the airport no later than 4:30 am on 14th  February 2015.

• Please be at the airport waiting for your child on 18th  February

Space Camp TurkeySpace Camp Turkey

• ESBAS (The Aegean Free Zone Development and Operating Company) was inspired to open a space camp in Turkey.

• The goals of Space Camp Turkey:

- Excite and engage youngsters in the fields of science and technology.

- Motivate and provide professional development for youngsters through the use of interactive activities.

- Space Camp Turkey helps them gain a sense of responsibility by being a part of a team, developing leadership skills, self-confidence, problem solving, time management and teamwork.

ActivitiesActivities• Outer Space Adventure trains youth in the space sciences, promotes

teamwork through space simulations, and provides understanding of space technology.

• Explore the science of growing plants without soil in the hydroponics laboratory.

• Gaze at Moon`s craters where Apollo modules landed, Jupiter`s stripes, Saturn`s rings, and even double stars in the constellations through a 10-inch telescope in the rooftop observatory.

• Observe experiments which illustrate the principles of physics and chemistry and how they apply to space exploration.

• Learn the principles of rocketry by building and launching your own AS rockets.

• Experience the thrill of riding two of our simulators, which give campers the feeling of living and working in space

Space Shuttle MissionSpace Shuttle Mission

•  This activity is the highlight of the program!

• During our simulated space shuttle missions, campers are assigned special positions such as payload specialist on the space shuttle Discovery and flight engineer in mission control.

• Each crew member and mission control specialist is integral to the

success of the mission. If a team member neglects a vital duty or assignment, it may have an adverse effect on the outcome of the flight.

• Participants learn how to effectively communicate with one another, solve problems together, and work as a team to ensure overall success of the mission.

AccommodationAccommodation

• Male and female campers are housed on separate dormitory floors in the Space Camp building. Each sleep bay accommodates 24 campers in bunk beds.

• Counselor rooms are located adjacent to each bay. • Bed sheets, blankets, pillows, pillowcases and towels are provided. • Each camper will have an assigned locker (bring your own lock).• Each sleep bay is adjacent to bathrooms which have sinks, private

shower stalls, and private toilets.

StaffingStaffing

• The counselor staff (Turkish and American) consists of college graduates and undergraduates.

• Some are education majors while others are pursuing masters and doctorate degrees in astronomy or have certificates in various education programs.

• All program staff members receive training in the following areas: space education, Space Camp Turkey activities, and safety for simulator operations.

Medical Staff Information:Medical Staff Information:

• A medical doctor is available during normal

working hours at Space Camp (8am-6pm).

• An emergency on-call doctor, clinic’s nursing staff and ambulance services are available 24 hours a day.

• All perscription medications, vitamins and herbal products will be collected and administrated by the nursing staff.

• Children are not permitted to keep any medication with them and it should be in their original container with the original label in order to be dispensed.

• Campers cannot receive personal phone calls except in case of emergencies.

• Your child will have the opportunity to call home in the evenings with a calling card (schedule permitting) on their own cell phone.

• Family members can call their children between 7 – 8 am/10 –11 pm.• wireless system and access to the Internet at the Space Camp Turkey

computer laboratory.

• Parents can reach their kids through the following phone numbers:

• There are no stores in the Aegean Free Zone.

• There are ATM machines for your 24-hour use in the Aegean Free Zone (USD/TL)

• We have vending machines if the students would like to buy chips, candy bars or ice cream.  Also, we have locks and phone cards available for purchase.

As part of the camp tuition, breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided in the Space Camp cafeteria. Snacks and soft drinks are also available from canteen within the facility at the camper’s expense.

SecuritySecurity and Safety and Safety

• Senior camp staff and a specialized security staff are

on-site or on call 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week

when camp is in session to ensure the safety of all campers.

• Each simulator is built to the highest standards.

• All equipment is checked for safety daily and maintained by professional technicians.

• Campers must be at least 4 feet (120 cm) tall and weigh no more than 210 pounds (95 kg) to ride the simulators.

• The entire facility and each enclosed simulator are equipped with smoke detectors and sprinkler system.

• Security of personal items is the participant’s responsibility. Do not bring items of high value to camp.

• The temperature during winter 6-20 0C.

• Winters are usually rainy (January – February).

• Space Camp Turkey building temperature is 20-24 0C .

• Children wear their own clothing during camp. • Label everything with first & last name.• Combination or key padlock• Toothbrush, toothpaste• Body soap, Deodorant, Shampoo, Hair brush / Combo, Hair dryer• Sleepwear, Underwear, Casual clothes• Socks and athletic shoes, Slippers• Appropriate outwear (Jacket, sweatshirt)• Please do not bring portable music players, laptops, tablets, smart phones or other expensive items.• Calling cards• Coins for vending machines (sodas, cookies … etc)• You may bring your cellular phone with you to use at appropriate times.• The cellular phones and cameras that you may bring to Space Camp with you

are not covered by insurance in case of loss or theft.
