Term 2 - Week 4 Thursday 21 May, 2020

Schools resume fulltime across NSW from Monday 25 May, and we will be overjoyed to have you all back!

Unfortunately we will still have some restrictions

in place, as we are guided through this re-opening stage by Government and Department of Education directives.

School Attendance All students should be at school unless:

They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition

They are currently unwell. Students who have a medical certificate to stay at home will be supported to learn from home in line with regular procedures if they are able to. These regular procedures are different to what was offered during the learning from home period.

Reporting for Semester 1, 2020

Schools will provide a simplified report to parents/carers about students' learning in Semester 1. SHPS has modified the existing report to a new simplified report to accommodate this change.

Reporting to parents/carers will focus on the learning that has taken place so far this year. This will include student's progress and achievements, as well as areas for development.

Student reports will go home to parents the last week of Term Two.

Learning Packs All teaching staff have sent out a message through the Class Dojo about the return of the Sem 1 and 2 Learning Packs that went home with your children. Please direct all queries about the Learning Packs to your child’s teacher through class Dojo.

PARENTS TO REMAIN OUTSIDE SCHOOL GROUNDS

Schools have been

directed by the Department of Education

that parents ARE NOT to enter on to the grounds when arriving at school and

afternoon pickups. If you feel you need to speak to a staff member, it is preferred you phone the school. To help keep our environment safe we are still asking that all children are brought to the gate and left to walk in themselves and the same in the afternoon. Younger students will be walked back to the gate in the afternoon by staff. ONLY two gates will be open for use from next week. The gate at the front of the school on Conargo Road and the council carpark.

It has been fabulous to see our parents and students abiding by the NEW NORMAL school rules over the recent weeks! Thank you to everyone for adhering to guidelines that have been put in place and for your understanding of our position in this COVID-19 situation. We understand it has been a tumultuous time for families having to juggle your household, work and schooling commitments, but with restrictions being eased we hope this will change things for you all. EXTRA CLEANING Schools are receiving extra cleaning services throughout each day for high use surfaces such as door handles, bathrooms, handrails and light switches. This is being conducted by our contracted cleaner. NO BREAKFAST CLUB Breakfast Club will not re open until further notice. BUBBLERS WILL REMAIN CLOSED

ALL school bubblers have been closed off for health reasons until further notice. Your child will need to bring their own drink bottles each day. Drink bottles can be re filled with water if required.

PLAY EQUIPMENT OPEN All play equipment will be back in use from next week.

NO SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

We will not be holding school assemblies until further notice. Awards will be handed out to students by their class teacher through the classroom, on their return to school.

NO LIBRARY BORROWING

Library borrowing has ceased until further notice. Library classes are still operating but there will be NO borrowing.

If your child has still got a library book at home, please return it on their next school day. As the Term 2 learning packs were sent home in your child’s library bag, we ask that the bags also be returned to school for when borrowing recommences.

Indi, Dakoda and staff member Tash, are using Auslan signing to clap. They are letting us know that they are

happy to be back at school.

A FEW CHANGES STILL REMAIN IN PLACE …...
