School Profile

Raywood Primary School is located in a rural village 30 km to the north of Bendigo. The school has 30 students and 3 effective full-time teaching staff, 2 Office Staff and 2 Integration Aides. The SFO is low.

The School is a source of pride for the whole Community. Its development and maintenance, together with the provision of equipment and materials, reflects cooperation and teamwork between parents and staff. There is open communication between all parties – students, teachers and parents. The School Community represents a broad range of socio-economic groupings. Many students travel to school via a bus run from nearby Neilborough and Sebastian. There are several students with disabilities and they have been welcomed into the School with care and support. The Staff are committed to providing improved teaching and learning, planning and initiatives through excellent programs and a safe, happy environment.

Regulatory context

Raywood Primary School has All Evidence to meet the Registration Requirements of a Government School.

Purpose

The purpose of Raywood Primary School is to provide an education for our children to prepare them for a future in a rapidly changing society. The school aims to work with our families and community to enable our students to become active, lifelong learners committed to personal success and being responsible citizens in a global community. We aim to achieve these outcomes by creating a dynamic learning environment that delivers an engaging, relevant and challenging curriculum

Environmental Context

Raywood Primary School is a rural learning community situated in a township 28 kilometres North of Bendigo. The School Community represents a broad range of socio-economic groupings. Total School Enrolment is 30 children. The SFO density is measured at 0.8871 and no LBOTE students. There are 4 Koorie students and 2 PSD funded students.

Service Standards

The school aims to work with our families and community to enable our students to become active, lifelong learners committed to personal success and being responsible citizens in a global community.

Achievement refers to both the absolute levels of learning attainment and growth in student learning that schools strive to support.

While recognising that literacy and numeracy are essential foundations for students’ success, achievement outcomes encompass a broader view of learning, spanning the full range of curriculum domains, as well as students’ co-curricular achievements.

To improve student outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy from P-6 through purposeful and explicit teaching.

To improve Student Learning Outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy:

All students to move through at least one AusVELS Level per year.

100% of students deemed capable are at or above expected levels with at least 50% of student performing above expected levels.

NAPLAN Year 3

In Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy 100% of students deemed capable are at or above Band 3, 75% above Band 4.

NAPLAN Year 5

In Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy 100% of students are at or above Band 5, 75% at or above Band 6.

NAPLAN relative growth 100% of students in the medium to high growth category with 50% of students in the high growth category for Literacy and Numeracy.

Ensure a whole school focus on purposeful teaching, so that there is shared agreement about successful pedagogy (E-5) that is consistently used by all teachers.

Make effective use of data to inform the point of learning of students, planning and assessment through the use of a whole school software based system eg: GradeXpert.

Engagement

Engagement refers to the extent to which students feel connected to and engaged in their learning and with the

broader school community.

Engagement spans students’ motivation to learn, as well as their active involvement in learning.

Engagement also refers to students engagement as they make critical transitions through school and beyond into further education and work.

To empower students to become independent and confident in their own learning.

For the school to maintain the high levels in all variables throughout the life of the Strategic Plan.

The Staff Opinion Surveys collective focus on Student Learning to be at or above state mean.

To continue the excellent Parent Opinion Survey results relating to School Improvement, Stimulating Learning, Behaviour Management, Classroom Behaviour and Student Safety, throughout the life of the Strategic Plan.

To reduce the mean days Absence per Student to be at or below the state average by 2017.

To build Staff Capacity to work collaboratively and to give and receive effective feedback for Learning, Wellbeing and Engagement.

Building on Staff Capacity to utilise ICT for programming as a Tool of Engagement.

Productivity Productivity refers to the effective allocation and use of resources, supported by evidence and adapted to the unique contexts of each school. Successful productivity outcomes exist when a school uses its resources – people, time, space, funding, facilities, community expertise, professional learning, class structures, timetables, individual learning plans and facilities – to the best possible effect and in the best possible combination to support improved student outcomes and achieve its goals and targets.

To closely Align the School Physical, Financial and Human Resources to the School’s goals and priorities.
