Project 1 (Title and brief description): NO TO SMOKING
Pupils / students will have the opportunity to study and carry out research and develop presentations about the potential
dangers and health hazardous harm that is caused by smoking and by the usage of tobacco and understand how countries like
South Africa, United Kingdom, Malaysia deal with public smoking.
Learning Outcomes: (at the end of the project the students will be able to)
1. Understand the harmful effects caused by chewing tobacco and by smoking
2. Explain how chewing and smoking tobacco would lead to cancer.
3. Develop advocacy to strongly support the cause.
4. Present researched knowledge on the media.
5. Create awareness among the public by directly interacting with them.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Tobacco use is a global epidemic among young people. Cigarettes
are the only legal consumer products in the world that cause one-half of
their long-term users to die prematurely. Nearly everyone knows that
smoking is unhealthy, but a lot of people continue to smoke to get
nicotine from tobacco. Few people realize that it is the smoke, not the
nicotine or the tobacco that is actually unhealthy.
The main aim of the project is to create awareness among the
public and involve children through various activities and programmes
in regard to awareness.
Student will prepare placards depicting the slogans on no smoking,
interacting with the public and taking oath by the shop keepers saying
that not to sell of tobacco in their shops. Principal will address the
students in the assembly about the project and the efforts taken by the
children to create awareness in the society. Students will take part in
the CBSE poster making competition on ‘say no to tobacco’ and entries
will be sent and it will be displayed in the bulletin board for the
assessment by the teachers and the report will be shared by them
among the children.
Students will interview the doctors who specialist in chest and
lungs disease in the hospital and the report will be published in the
newsletter and the regional newspaper. Students will research on one
who overcome from the smoking habits and will send appeal through
the social network to the celebrities not to show smoking scene in their
film.
Students will prepare PowerPoint presentation on how the
countries like UK, South Africa, Malaysia deals with public smoking and
will be posted in the face book.
A rally will start from school by holding the placards and
raising slogans on “no smoking” and the shopkeepers
will swear the oath.
Principal and Health Expertise will address the students
regarding the topic “The Hazards of Cigarettes”, followed
by sharing of experience by the students who take part
in the procession.
CBSE poster making competition on “Say no to Tobacco”
will be conducted.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
The teachers and the students participated with great mettle to put an
end to the dangerous tobacco. The students and teachers carried placards with
slogans about the dangers and effects of tobacco and went along the roads nearby
the school. They even visited many shops and told the merchants about the hazards
caused by the tobacco and made them understand. The teachers and students even
got written statement from the general merchants that here after they will not sell
tobacco in future in their shops.

Activity Description:
Students were addressed by the Principal and Health Expertise on the
topic “Hazards of Cigarettes” in the assembly. The impact of the Rally was also
discussed by the Principal. Health Expertise gave awareness about the possible
methods to overcome the usage of Tobacco. Students shared their experience about
the rally.

Activity Description
The students from four houses were selected for poster making competition on
the topic “Say no to tobacco”. Students surfed the internet and collected information
for discussion. They created the posters very creatively and displayed it on the board
for assessment. Teachers evaluated the posters displayed and shared their feedback
among the students.
