School MissionKing’s College is committed to helping students discover their potential fully, to promoting a balanced education that takes into consideration students’ moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic needs, and to providing a learning environment that is disciplined, self-stimulating and forward-looking.

This school was founded on its present site in 1926. It is basically a boys’ school although girls are admitted to Secondary 7. With a glorious history extending over 85 years, it has graduates excelling in all walks of life and all over the world. In 2004, under the auspices of the Education Committee of Beijing, PRC and the Education Bureau, HKSAR, the school entered into an education pact with Beijing Huiwen Middle School, a very prestigious school with a brilliant record, to become its sister school.

School Management Committee (SMC)The SMC is chaired by Mr. Tam Koon-che, Principal Education Officer (Curriculum Development). The members include the Principal, two representatives from each of the four parties of stakeholders, namely teachers, old boys, parents as well as independent members of the community.

Medium of InstructionThe school is using English as the medium of instruction in all subjects with the exception of Chinese Language, Putonghua, Chinese History, Chinese Language & Culture and Liberal Studies. In some selected classes in S1 and S2, Putonghua is the medium of instruction in Chinese Language lessons.

The main school building, a declared moument, was damaged in World War II but later refurbished to restore its classical facades with grey columns against a background of red bricks and arched corridors. In 2000, a west wing was added to provide more space and facilities for teaching and learning.

The school buildings now surround an open playground and accommodate 33 classrooms, 6 laboratories, a Campus TV Room, a Multi-purpose Room, an Art Room, a Music Room, an IT Room, a school library and a Multi-media Learning Centre. Various activities are also conducted in the School Hall, the Student Activity Room, the Lecture Room, the Scouts Room, the gymnasium and the swimming pool. In 2007, a Solar Energy Heating System was installed on the roof top of the west wing to provide electric power for the water heaters as well as facilities for science and environmental education.

The year 2011 marks the school’s 85th Anniversary which is highlighted by a series of celebrative events including the Anniversary Concert and the Visual Arts Exhibition. As a vibrant learning community, the school has organized activities which bring students, parents, alumni, teachers and the community together.

Academic PerformanceThe school achieved satisfactory results in the public examinations. Our 10A student, Lui Man Hin Benjamin (6C) obtained the Charles Frankland Moore Award 2010. The award was presented to the best academic performer in the 2010 Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE). Significantly, such an academic honour is the first and the last to our school with the phasing out of the HKCEE in Hong Kong’s education system. Besides, Lo Chun Tung Raymond (6C) also obtained the Silver Medal in the 52nd International Mathematics Olympaid at Amsterdam. In September 2011, 11 of our S6 students were admitted to several popular programmes of the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology under the Early Admission Scheme. Our S7 students also attained good results in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and most of them further their studies at renowned local and overseas universities.

Enhancing students’ other learning experiencesThe school provides a variety of activities including academic, cultural and religious activities as well as opportunities for social services through more than 40 clubs and societies to cater for students’ all-round development.

Teachers and students are allocated to one of the six Houses, namely Ferguson, Kay, Morris, Sargison, Wallington and School. The House members compete in the Swimming Gala, Athletics Meet, Cross-country Run, debate competitions and ball games and display a strong sense of commitment and solidarity.

The Fig Tree is the school magazine, which is published annually to reflect students’ school life, the school’s development and achievements in the year. The Bridge is the school newspaper, issued twice a year, and King’s Spring is a collection of students’ literary works.

The school benefits greatly from the unfailing support from both associations. They participate actively in our school activities, sponsor various projects and donate scholarships and prizes to our students. With the support given, our students continue to strive for better results and attain higher levels of achievements.

本校使命

學校行政管理

歷史

推廣全人教育，德、智、體、群、美五育並重。全面照

顧學生需要，協助學生發掘潛能，均衡發展；並提供一

個紀律嚴明、誘發學習和培養進取精神的學習環境。

本校於一九二六年在現址創建，除中七外，只招收男

生。我校致力培育英才以回饋社會，八十五年來各行各

業人才輩出，遍佈海內外。二零零四年，本校參與由北

京教育委員會與香港教育局主辦的「兩地學校結盟計

劃」，與北京著名的匯文中學締結成友好姊妹學校，促

進與外界學術和文化交流。

中一至中七男生：1136中七女生：4人

中二至中六：每級設五班

中一及中七：各設四班

本校除校長、兩位副校長及六十四位教師

外，還有一位圖書館館長、五名教學助理、

四位實驗室技術員及一位駐校社工。

教學語言除了中國語文科、中國歷史科、中國

語文及文化科和通識教育科以母語授

課外，其餘科目均以英語授課。而

普通話科及部分中一和中二班別的

中國語文科則以普通話授課。

學校活動

二零一一至二零一二年度的關注事項

為慶祝英皇書院創校85周年，本校於2011年舉辦了一系列的活動，包括周年音樂會和視覺藝術創作展。本

校為一個充滿活力的學習團隊，經常舉辦各種活動，讓學生、家長、舊生、老師和社區人士切磋交流。

本學年的「關注事項」有以下兩個範疇：

（一）品德及價值教育

（二）新高中課程的實施與檢討

校舍與設施教學大樓現被列為法定古蹟。二次大戰期

間，大樓曾遭破壞，但經一番修葺後，已回

復昔日古典面貌。校舍以傳統英式建築風格

見稱，紅磚襯托淡灰石柱及拱形長廊，洋溢

古樸風韻。二零零零年，新翼校舍落成，為

教與學提供更多空間與設備。

教學大樓主要圍繞一個露天操場而建，除三

十三間教室外，並設有六間實驗室、校園電

視台、多用途室、美術室、音樂室、電腦

室、資訊科技室、圖書館、多媒體學習室、

禮堂、學生活動室、演講室、童軍室、體育

健身室及游泳池，供學生進行不同類型的活

動。二零零七年，學校新翼教學大樓樓頂裝

設了太陽能發熱系統，不但為學校供應熱

水，更可推展科學及環保教育。

英皇書院同學會及 英皇書院家長教師會兩會每年均鼎力支持及積極參與學校活動，設立了

多個獎學金並提供贊助，鼓勵學生努力上進，再創

佳績。

出版學校的定期刊物，包括了每年出版的校刊「The Fig Tree」和兩期的校報「學聲」。而學生優秀作品，

則刊載於學生文集「英泉」。

提升及豐富學生的 「其他學習經歷」本校共有四十二個與學術、文藝、宗教、制服團

體和社會服務有關的學會或興趣小組，提供各類型

活動，以達致全人發展的目標。全校師生分別隸屬

於富、祈、莫、莎、威、校六個社，並於水運會、

陸運會、越野賽、辯論比賽及各項球賽中，互相砥

礪，力求進步。

學術成就表現一直以來，本校學生在學術成就方面表現出色，屢

獲殊榮。呂旻軒同學榮獲莫鳳麟獎學金，此獎項由

香港中英基金同學會設立，並於二零一一年一月十

三日假香港大學由英國駐港總領事奚安竹先生(Mr. Andrew Seaton)頒發，以表揚呂同學於二零一零年

香港中學會考中考獲全港首名的最佳成績，為本校

首次有學生獲頒此獎項。此外，盧俊彤同學亦勇奪

在阿姆斯特丹舉行的第五十二屆國際奧林匹克數學

競賽銀獎，可喜可賀。

二零一一年九月，十一位同學透過「中六生優先錄取計劃」獲香港大學、香港中文大學及香港

科技大學錄取。另外，眾多中七學生也於香港高級程度會考中考取優異成績，繼續在香港或海

外著名大學升學。
