Over the last two years, you may have read in the Leaven or heard about it in other ways – One Faith. One

Family, One Future in Christ, a $65 million dollar campaign for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, will

support our parishes, programs and people for decades to come!

Despite present-day challenges that confront our individual homes, our community and the universal

Church, all Catholics in northeast Kansas are invited to participate in the One Faith, One Family, One Future in

Christ Campaign. Since the campaign’s launch in 2018, 57 parishes and individual donors have pledged $45 mil-

lion toward this historic endeavor. This fall, Archbishop Naumann has asked the remaining 52 parishes to partici-

pate in reaching the $65 million goal. It’s now our turn as Holy Spirit parish to invest in the future of our Catholic

Community of Northeast Kansas!

This monumental effort, which unites all 109 parishes in our Archdiocese, is designed to directly benefit

each individual parish as well as focus on important Archdiocesan programs and facilities at the heart of our faith

community. Holy Spirit will receive a minimum 25% of funds collected at our own parish to address unique needs

and opportunities. Additional funds will support Archdiocesan-wide initiatives to (a) create a retirement residence

for our priests, (b) improve facilities for compassionate, Catholic skilled nursing care at Villa St. Francis in

Olathe, (c) assist parishes that have undergone consolidation in recent years, and (d) update Archdiocesan facili-

ties at Savior of the World Pastoral Center. (Savior of the World opened as a high school seminary in 1965 and

currently serves over 60,000 people each year through its Chapel, conference center, overnight retreat facility, ath-

letic facilities, and the Chancery offices.)

As mentioned, 25% of all funds collected at our parish will directly benefit Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Specific allocation of funds will be prioritized so that we can address parish needs without incurring additional

debt or initiating our own parish capital campaign. The last time our Archdiocese conducted a historic cam-

paign was over 19 years ago. The last time our parish underwent its own capital campaign was more than

In the coming weeks you will hear more about the campaign here at Holy Spirit. Please look for personal-

ized information in the mail and/or through electronic communication. For many more details about the One Faith

campaign, please visit the campaign’s website at https://faithfamilyfuture.archkck.org/.

Please keep the parish in your prayers as we plan and prepare to build our future together.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

Father Richard Halvorson
