The building blocks of an excellent education begins with all students coming to school each and every day. Regular school attendance is vital and missing school days can have a big impact on a child’s future. Missing one day a fortnight will equate to missing four full weeks by the end of the year. Each day a student misses school puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes.

Dear Parents and Families, The BASC program is finishing off the year, continuing to have fun within the program, exploring new activities and enjoying the time before and after school with each other. The children are great at coming up with their own play ideas. This week they used the coloured bean bags and started playing a game like tennis, so we then borrowed the small tennis rackets and small soft balls and the children all practised their bat and ball skills. They took turns to practise hitting the ball that was thrown towards them and encouraged each other as they went on. Other children used the many doll houses and made a land of dolls, animals, castles, and people. They explored their imagination and role playing skills as they hid around the castles and created stories with the characters and each other. On the sunny days late last week, we ventured out into rainbow land and the children had fun together competing in obstacle courses and engaging with each other exploring new equipment such as the slide and monkey bars. As usual, the children love exploring their creativity and artistic skills. They have been learning to trace Pokemon creatures using the light from the window, creating amazing colourful artworks. Thank you for your commitment to the OSCH program and I look forward to seeing the happy, smiling faces of your children in 2017. Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. From Nicki
