▶ Students in the Meadowvale IBT program improve their self-reflection and communication skills through the preparation and presentation of their personal portfolios.

▶ Grades 9 and 10: Prepare an electronic portfolio based on

school and community accomplishments

▶ Grade 11: Portfolio is based on post-secondary plans

▶ Grade 12: Engage in mentorship of Junior students

What is integrated curriculum?

▰ Integrated curriculum teaches core concepts and skills by connecting multiple subject areas to a unifying theme or issue.

▰ By using the structure of the school day, IBT students will be involved in an innovative way to approach education.

How does my child benefit?

▰ Students can make natural connections between subjects, using knowledge in one subject to help them go deeper in their learning in another.

▰ More links to the real world, which will help them after graduation.

▰ More class time to complete assignments.

▰ Assessment tasks cover more than one subject.

▰ More opportunities for field trips, with less concerns over missing other classes.

What Will this Look Like for my Child?

The 2018/19 Gr 9 cohort students will be in one of three complimentary curriculum packages for their morning classes:

1. Technology and Math (TIJ10R & MPM1DR)2. Business and Geography (BTT1OR & CGC1DR)3. Science and Art (SNC1DR & AVI1OR)

What will this look like for my student?

● Students will have stay with the same class for the morning, with their two teachers rotating during Periods 1 and 2.

● Teachers will plan curriculum together, integrating the two subjects areas in lesson planning.

● Students will engage in more project based learning with technology.● Students will participate in a passion project final evaluation, with a Makers faire that

parents and the community will be invited to attend in January.● Teachers will have the opportunity to plan more out-of-school experiences, without

impeding on curriculum being taught in other courses.

Your child’s computer should have hardware specifications that can last the next four years of continuous daily use for classroom learning. Below are the system requirements for an IBT laptop.

▶ Processor: i5 minimum. i7 is ideal▶ Operating System: Windows or Mac▶ Battery Life: 5 hours of actual working time minimum▶ Outputs: USB, HDMI – or adapters/dongles for these

outputs▶ Drive space: 200GB free space▶ Wifi: 802.11a/g/n or 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz minimum.
