Please put your child’s name as a reference on payments made. Many families set their fees up as an automatic payment and pay a small amount regularly, please let us know if you want any help with setting this up.
Welcome We welcome two new students to Motupipi. Chloe is in Rm 5 and has come to us from the Waikato. “ I like everything here, it is so much fun. The kids are really friendly. I really like the classwork and we get to do sports everyday.” Talia is in Rm 2 and has come back after a time in ChCh “ I have lots of friends and I like my class. I like playing on the field with my friends” -Talia
It was great to have a fine start to the term. The children seem well rested and certainly has given them time to get rid of the flus and bugs that were prevalent at the end of term. We have plenty on with miniball, speeches, tackle sevens, hockey and chess competitions to prepare as well as the normal curriculum areas to attend to.
Assembly Assembly time has been changed. We will be
starting at 2.25pm rather than 2.10.
Speeches Our Yr 3-6 children are working on their speeches in preparation for presenting them in class in a couple of weeks. The top 3 in each year group will represent the school at the Golden Bay School’s Speech competitions on Monday 14 August for the Yr 3 & 4 grades then Tuesday 15 August for the Yr 5 & 6 grades. Please talk to your children about what topic they have chosen and feel free to give them ideas.

My Holiday I was away from school on Monday because I was coming back
from Wellington.
In Wellington we went bowling. I came second.
In Wellington the tide came over the road. It was so rough that
it splashed over us and luckily we were in
the car. It flooded.
We had dinner at Aunty Den’s house. I
had butter chicken there. It was yummy.
At Wellington we went on a train. We went through a glowing
tunnel. It was for a special reason because I was being good. It
was fun. We stayed for four nights. By Layla R ( Rm 3)
Welcome back to term three, just a quick update on our school calendar downloads. We now have 38 families using our school Parent Teacher Calendar App. Awesome work!
Science is Cool! I really enjoyed the M&M experiment we did in class. We put 4 M&M’s in a dish and covered them with water. The colours started to come out which we expected, but what I really liked was how the colours swirled and seemed to have a war with each other. When the colours touched they seemed to set up a wall but it gradually broke down with one colour being stronger than the other. The amazing thing that happened was that the M on the M&M peeled off and floated to the top. The reason it did that was because it was made of edible ink and didn't dissolve. It is an easy experiment to do and you get to eat the M&M at the finish. Yum! Kier (Room 1)
Thanks to the Fundraising Committee from Rm 4
The Fundraising Committee recently allocated $3000 to share out among the classes. Rm4 are the first of the classes to get the gear they had decided to spent their money on. Thank you for giving us the money to buy the things we wanted for our class. We wanted some cushions for class reading inside and outside as well as lego and jenga. Today Mrs Cullen brought in all the new gear and we were all so excited. It is really comfortable reading outside now. The jenga is cool because it explodes if you take too long. We now have heaps of lego so there is plenty to go round.
Thank you again. Rm 4 Children
