Honorariums

Honorariums are designed to be paid to individuals in Teacher Level Positions. In some instances, these duties are performed by the Principal or Assistant Principal. Although this is appropriate, those positions are not eligible for honorariums.

The intent of the honorarium is to recognize teachers who work directly with students outside the regular duty hours for teachers. It is not to be used for cafeteria duty, bus duty, grade level or department chair duty, TAC, PTA Board, or chaperones for school dances or athletic events. In addition, no points may be assigned to any activity for which an individual receives a supplement, extended employment pay, or payment through athletic receipts.

Final decisions at each school must be made by the faculty advisory council of the school. The plan prepared by each faculty council must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate Zone Superintendent.

Each point is valued at $100.00

1. Available points are as follows:a. Middle schools with 1,000 or more students may award 18.75 points.b. Middle schools with less than 1,000 students may award 12.5 points.

2. The council should consider the following:a. Only activities that require time outside the normal duty hours.b. Time, responsibility, travel and number of students involved.

3. Once unit values are established, appeals should be made directly to the faculty council.

Our state department has been working with math content experts across North Carolina to review and revise our K-8 math standards. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Mathematics Section staff have developed a survey to seek public input on the second draft of the state’s revised K-8 Mathematics Standards. The staff is seeking feedback from district administrators, teachers, parents, and the community on the recommended changes.

Please share the survey link below with your staff and parents.

The draft standards are available online for your review prior to completing the survey.

The survey deadline is 5 p.m., April 20.

End-of-Year PlanDirections: Utilize the following format as a guide for completing your end-of-year PDP.

Please fill out this form with your goals from your PDP (If you need to for reflection). Keep it simple. All I need for you to do is to bullet what you have done and go into MyTalent and fill out your end-of--year PDP. If you can reflect on what you have done without using this form, then I need for you to go straight to MyTalent and fill out the information located in your end-of--year PDP. Please guys—Let me help you by keeping this very simple. I want us to focus on the students when we return. I just simply need for you to tell me how you achieved your goals and how you tracked the data. More importantly, I want you to highlight your strategies for data tracking. This is a worksheet for you to use if you want to; otherwise, you may go straight to MyTalent and complete. Please let your GLA know as soon as you have completed this process. Your GLA and I will go in and complete our part at that time. Again, this is just a worksheet if you need it.

Example of what I am looking for is the following:

Provided opportunities for all students to Re-Write Papers, Re-Do Projects, and Re-Take Tests to help students master all work at a minimum of 80%.
