INTRODUCTION The basis for the formulation of the School Improvement Plan is Republic Act 8155 also known as the” Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001”.

This law is based on the principle that the school is the second home of the child, the place to get formal education thus the seat of learning. The School Head has to

exercise instructional leadership and sound administrative management. It is the prime responsibility of the school to cope with the, vision, mission, goals and objectives to

develop a school education program and School Improvement Plan.

The School Improvement Plan was develop through the efforts of the School Head, a teacher Representative, PTCA President, President of the Student Body Organization

and a member of the Kimagango Barangay Council.

The School head has the great role in making this development plan into a success being a pioneer resident of this barangay.

Other data needed in the formulation of the plan was researched from the School’s Education Management Information System. The formal training of the school

Improvement plan was called and the group did the situational analysis of the school problem in the training venue and was able to formulate a more meaningful vision and

mission of the school.

The Plan consist analysis of the situation of the school. After formulating the vision and mission, the group stated its goal and objectives. The five-year and one year plan

for the school was formulated and it will be ready for implementation.

The School Improvement Plan aims to provide guidance to the school head on the priority task to be done in order to achieve its objectives, to increase participation rate.

HISTORY OF BARANGAY KIMAGANGO

KIMAGANGO became a regular barangay of Midsayap in 1948 with Mr. Apolonio Suganob as the first TENIENTE DEL BARRIO.

It used to be a Sitio of Barangay Katingawan.

KIMAGANGO came from a Manobo word “MAGANGO” meaning dry. According to the manobos who frequently visited the areas of Kimagango for hunting and other primitive agriculture

activities the place Magango was known to be dry due to the absence of a river or big creek. The prefix “Ki” of the name Kimagango came from the first syllable of Sitio Kiwanan

indicating that the said sitio was geographically and politically part of barrio Magango which later became a regular barangay in 1948.

Its early settlers were farmers who became beneficiaries of the Homestead Law of the government in which a maximum of eight (8) hectares were given to qualified individuals. Ninety-

five (95%) of these settlers were Cebuano coming mostly from Cebu.

Among its first and second batches of early settlers were the following families;

ABELLA, BIGWAS, INAMAC, CANADA, DIVINAGRACIA, DEQUITO, VERANO, OMISOL, OLANA, DANDO, MANOS, ENGALGADO, VERGARA, DIANO, NIALA, GORRERO, GUERERO, ANUEGO,

TRUMATA, PILAPIL, MAYORMITA, SINGCO, ANIÑON, VILAR, SANCHEZ, BALBUENA, BATE, TAN, OBINA, VISCAYNO, BELOTINDOS, SINAMPAGA, NGITNGIT, INTES, PENOSA, AGULO, CAYACAP,

DUGA, OBARCO, UTLANG, ITAO, MEGUISO, SILVANO, SELAGPO, ONTAL, CAGANG, DACILLO, CATULONG, ORTIZ, SEROT, RAMOS, SINAHAN, SONSONA, ANITO.

The first primary school was established due to the poineering efforts of Mr. Fabio Divinagracia, Eustaquio Bigwas, Sacho Canada, Ananias Dequito and Pedro Verano in 1952.

The first teacher was Miss Anema who later on was augmented by Miss petra Taclaud and Mr. Julio Cadava. In due time the new site ( the present site) was made possible by the unified

efforts of the Teniente del Barrrio, Pedro Pilapil with the support of the first PTA president Mr. Eustacio Bigwas so that in 1959 the historic first Elementary graduation was held.

Below is the list of the barangay heads from 1948 to date:

Kimagango is hilly and during its early age. The place was covered with forest which sheltered rich wildlife; however, in the 50's forest and other wildlife resources disappeared due to

kaingin and scientific farming. With the government mandate to care for the environment Kimagangians had restored the forest by reforestation.

The barangay is approximately 5.5 kilometers from the town of Midsayap the municipality where it belongs.

The inhabitants are composed of mixed tribes as shown in the table above. Kimagango was once a forestall land in which the first settlers were the manobos. Migrants from Cebu called Colono settled

this place for Manobos and other settlers were in good relations with each other. The Colono came from the town of Gimatilan, Badian, Dumanjog and other towns of Cebu. When the migrants arrived the

Manobos an indigenous tribe who are by nature timid and peace loving people inhabited too the place. The term magango came from Manobo word which means dry. Dry in the sense that there are no

tributaries and no rivers. The only existing body of water is the creek that bounded Kimagango from Upper Bulanan and that is the Bulanan Creek.

This hilly place was covered with thick vegetation and forest and the only way out to Midsayap were small trails or paths. Prior to its being a barangay is a part of Crossing Midsayap with Kiwanan. In

one of the election campaigns, one politician greeted the people of KIMAGANGO, meaning the people of Kiwanan and Magango. Since then the name Kimagango was used.Kimagango was created as a

barangay through an Executive Order No. 66.

B. THE SCHOOL

A. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Kimagango National High School is located in northern part of Midsayap. It is 5 kilometers from the Poblacion. It was bounded in the north by Anonang, in the south by Kiwanan, Upper Bulanan in the

east and on the west by Ilbocean and Poblacion 8.

The school from the junction is 3.2 kilometers. The means of transportation are tricycle, single motor and multicabs. It has a cemented road which is the highway or national road and the school is 30

meters from the highway.

In the 60’s, Dr. Pedro Orata of Pangasinan, spearheaded the movement of making secondary education available in the barangay through the establishment of barangay high school which was

formerly known as Barrio High School.

With this movement the people of Kimagango through their active leaders come up to make Barangay resolution on the establishment of high school. And so Kimagango High School was established

in the year 1967 thru the leadership of Barangay Captain Diego Divinagracia with the District Supervisor Mr. Felipe Zurita.

The high school was opened in 1967 with Mr. Manuel T. Calungsod as the first teacher who was as elementary teacher. The school was in the campus of the elementary ground.

Kimagango before is a part of crossing Midsayap with Kiwanan. In one of the election campaign, one politician greeted the people KIMAGANGO, meaning the people of Kiwanan and magango. Since

then the name Kimagango was used.

Kimagango was created as barangay through Executive order No. 66 dated November 25, 1966 and the first Barangay Captain was Sofronio Suganob.

As to the present Kimagango National High School has two (2) hectares all purchased by the PTA. It is a rolling place and has a clayish soil.

The school finds importance for strong linkage among teacher, parents, and stockholders. For the teacher an organization in form of cooperative, the Kimagango Multipurpose Cooperative (KIMPCO)

whose motive is mutual helps among the members was created. The importance of the presence of stockholders is recognized by the school. It let the stockholders feel that they are part of the school in which

they are to take care all the properties and buildings of the school. They composed the school planning team (SPT).

The table shows that there is fluctuating in percentage. This connotes that the populace has no stable residence and always seek greener Pasteur. Economic status of the people plays an important

factor too. And some parents are discouraged on the achievement of their children so they are disinterested to let them be in school plus the influence of the advancement in technology.

PHYSICAL AND ANCILLARY SERVICES

The physical and ancillary services are rendered by the teachers and staff of the school. This is done due to the non-implementation of the correct pattern. Even if this is assign to the teachers

and staff, the services rendered are good.

As to the learning materials the school has quite enough. Some books in the MAPEH, TLE and values are insufficient.

The students of Kimagango National High School belong commonly to the poor families. They come from different barangays and different tribes. Though they are quite far from the school, they

want to earn knowledge thus they come to school to attend regular classes. As to their performance they are not log behind from other schools. They show up in different competitions held whether it

maybe in school, district or division level. They have books to be read and the library has also reference books for them to research.

The school follows the curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education so with the time allotment per subject areas.

It follows to the enhanced TLE curriculum the Career Pathway Starting this year. It offers computer and culinary from first year.

ANALYSIS OF THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SCHOOL

The principal as the school heads manages the school and its activities. Hence different committees were formed and assign as a chairman for every committee so as to run the school and its

activities smoothly. As to mobilization of financial resources the school is lucky to be an implementing unit for we have the bookkeeper and disbursing officer.

The school head conducts formal and informal observations. She sees to it that all teachers and rendering their services well and good. Students should have increased their MPS.
