Follow-up notification to schools significantly impacted

Dear School Self-inspection Partners:

We are ready to launch the risk-based, streamlined version of our self-inspection program in September

2013. We appreciate all the input on our forms, handouts and new process; we feel we have

successfully incorporated most of your suggestions. All new forms will be unveiled at our next school

inspection workshop, scheduled for September 26, 2013. Please save the date.

Our final task has been the development of the new flat fee schedule. We committed to reducing our

costs prior to setting new fees and we have succeeded. Based on a trial of our new risk-based

inspections and our increased efficiencies, we project a 36% decrease to our 2014 budget, which

includes a 35% reduction of FTEs in our program. These FTEs will be shifted internally to other

programs. This allows us to set the new fees at a lower cost than most anticipated:

Some important points about the fees:

There will be no additional charge for attending our annual workshop; this is included in the

service fee.

We estimate nearly 60% of the private or parochial schools participating in our self-inspection

program will actually experience a decrease (or no change) in fees when compared with their

previous average costs, which were based on hourly rates. The increase for most remaining

schools will be minimal ($5.00 - $30.00).
