The grades 5, 6, and 7 are learning wood working skills. Right now they are sanding their bench projects.

Core Competencies For the week our focus will be on Positive Personal and Cul-tural Identity which is part of the Personal and Social Core Competency. "The positive personal and cultural identity competency involves the awareness, understanding, and ap-preciation of all the facets that contribute to a healthy sense of oneself" (Personal and Cultural Identity Competency Pro-files).

The Positive Personal and Cultural Identity competency is made up of three parts:

relationships and cultural contexts

personal values and choice

personal strengths and abilities

In our classrooms we will be using the "I" statements below as we talk about positive personal and cultural identi-ty. These are the same statements you will see on our three way conference documents when we meet in December and again in March. Primary

I know who I am and some special things about me

I can tell you about the people, places, and things that are important to me

Intermediate

I describe different aspects of my identity (e.g. family, school, community, and peer groups)

I explain personal values and how they affect choices

I identify my personal characteristics and reflect on my strengths

HALLOWEEN AT A. J.

TREATS

Thank you to all the families for the “spook”tacular party treats. They were delicious!

**HALLOWEEN TREATS**

Parents, please help your

child’s learning by not

sending full size candy

bars and other sweets to

school. One mini treat to

eat after their healthy

lunch would be fine.
